Is there any one out there that has painted there car with Hot Rod Flatz Black. If so I'm looking for a something that will help me clean it easily.I have a problem with parking under trees and getting sap on the car.and when I wash it I can see were the sap was .Also cleaning armor all splatter is becoming a pain in the ****.Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks..
I washed mine with a MR. Clean auto dry carwash thing. As far as cleaning spots, try windex, or some other gl*** cleaner.
Mine is hot rod flatz I use a liquid spray on wipe off called ICE. Works great and keeps it black. When rained on looks like it's waxed. Jim
If the paint is not completly flat and it has a satin sheen to it, then it CAN BE WAXED.my car aint shiney and i wax it with no problems. the old body was way to bad for me to put $ into. it is what it is.my 53 studebaker WILL have shiney paint!
I have a 2008-shot satin base/clear finish on my '32, and spent some time trying to find a product that would clean without adding any shine, which rules out waxs and most detailers. I found "Wizard's Wipe Down" works great at removing stains and dirt between the regular soap & water washings, without adding "shinny", as it was made for matte finishes. I agree keeping matte/satin/flat finishes clean can be a PITA, but this product makes the job much easier. Bob http://www.wizardsproducts.com/store/catalog/Appearance-Products-orderby0-p-2-c-21.html
I think the question was, what can I clean my flat paint with, not should I paint my car flat. Like it or not , may here like flat paint. When it's your car do what you want! Mike
I have a few of my Harley chops painted with Hot Rod Flatz I use windex and a regular cotton rag to clean the spots off it I have 2 in black, and 1 in their metal flake rust color works well on both of them
I had a 55 post that I painted flat black. I won't do that again. The fuel stained it, towel lint stuck to it. I would usually have to go to the car wash, rinse it with no-spot, and let it air dry.
Thanks for the plug Bob. Our Wipe Down product is perfect for this use. See my signature to save some loot on your online order too!
i take mine to the coin-op car wash and use the hot wax setting. this doesnt leave a shine and makes the water bead up and roll off
Any of you guys tried using the hot rodz flatz clear over the color. does it make it shinier? Because doesn't this clear have flattener in it? It would give the paint better protection. I was thinking of using this when I get around to spraying but like all who like a flat color I don't want it too shiny either.
Wash/Wax All at aerocosmetics.com used on planes, boats, cars. water based with uv protectorant, so no swirl marks or powder. can be applied on wet or dry car. just spray on. use it on all my old cars and daily drivers.
I painted my Caddy matte black, always heard from everyone "oh it's so easy to clean just spray a little water on it and your good to go" yeah thats ******** even after I hand wash it with soap and water it still looks like ****..probably wont be doing a flat again unless I can find a good cleaner that works..mine has no clear over it, it's just straight PPG matte black
whats wrong with armour all? I obviously wouldnt use it on the exterior of my car..but I use it on my dash and such
I bought some to try out. I didn't think my pannel was more shiny than the single stage. Basicly, what my pannel looked like when I shot my base coat, is how it looked like after spraying the hotrod flatz clear. I'm happy with it.
It is a petroleum based product. Over time it will cause the dash, tires, etc. to prematurely age and crack. It breaks down the UV protection in the surface. Have you seen how tires turn brown over time after use of that type of product? Besides that its a greasy mess.
ahhh good point I remember someone telling me its petroleum based awhile back...any suggestions on whats best to use to shine up the dash & tires?
Funny you should ask . . . (shameless plug for my employer): Gives a nice natural -- non-greasy shine and is not petroleum based. See my signature for a HAMB discount!
hey I tried using the HAMB15 code but it says.. Coupon not available. Possible reasons: - the coupon code you entered is incorrect; - the coupon can be used only by a registered customer; - the coupon is disabled or expired.
nevermind logged in and now it works shipping price is crazy but I placed an order, hope this stuff works! thanks
Had the same problem with my 62 Ford Wagon. My PPG paint rep. told me that it would work great. Used the DCC single stage with the flatting agent in it. Turned out horrible. And to clean it, well you may as well forget it. The next one I did, I used the hot rodz black, and it works great. Like another person had already posted, I used the Turtle wax spray detailer, called "Liquid Ice". Works great, and doesnt bring a shine to the finish at all. Just dont rub to much, or hard or it will begin to get shinny in spots.
