well I finally fired it yesterday--it's been 5 yrs since it ran (barely) and 28 years since it ran like it's supposed to(last time it really ran well was when wife ran it at Antique drags at Baylands in 81). Was like hearing from an old friend that you haven't hear from in years--I was very nervous on starting this one (don't know why)-wife finally came out and said--push it out in the driveway and give it a try--it lit right up!!! Ran thru the breakin cycle and now will just fine tune it and then put the hood back on--can hardly wait til the rain stops---love the sound of a solid lifter FI car--takes me back many, many years also per engine gurus, I used Valvoline VR1 with EOS on the cam/lifters--should be fine I hope
Looks really nice. I have a soft spot for tri-fives. Keep the side windows down for the first ride because you and your wife's smiles will extend outside the car. Beautiful Job.
Wow, I like it! Great history. A black 57 Fuelie, solids, don't get much better than that. As the Zach Brown band sings it , "Life is good today, life is good today"!
THX for the comments--it was my birthday present to myself to start it up-got it ready on my birthday(67) the day before I fired it
Man, that's a beautiful car... Nice job olscrounger! Dig the Bel Air trim and dog dish hubcaps against the black!
Very nice 57. Make sure you keep oil in it that has a high zinc concentrate, those solids will love you for it for many years. Did I say I loved your car?
Hey Tim, That 57 sure is sweet.....bet it looks great sitting next to the 40's. Can't wait to hear more about your first drive. Murph
damn thing is sure finicky--suspect I have some fine tuning to do--seems to run pretty well so far--only 40 minutes on mtr-seems pretty *****y--starts right up but doesn't like to idle under 800 but that's about right for an 097 cam I think
