hello all. in a previous thread it was suggested i purchase this crankcase breather vent for my 327. i called today and they are backordered until late february. anyone else know where i can purchase something very similar for my 327? thanks in advance. this goes in a hole in the block adjacent to the distributor. not all 327 blocks have this.
i have several that i took off motors in junkyards. 40+ years old engines may be getting harder to find in them , but it may be your only choice who sells that one new? how much?
here's the tube on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Corv...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories here's the inside part if you don't have one already http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/57-6...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Have you checked Eckler's? Not "factory" but it gets the job done. http://www.lategreatchevy.com/***ets/pdf/563742.pdf?
BRADY...that tube is not nearly as important, as the long round tibe at the back of engine. located inside the vally. man never, ever leave it out.WHY? she'll blow oil out the valve cover breathers...POP.
I made one on the lathe out of aluminum and tapped it for a br*** hose barb. It looks pretty darn good for free. Know anyone with a lathe?
You can also make your own with a soft plug and the pictured pieces, all available from your local parts store. Frank
Not a 327,but when I replaced the intake on my 283 ,I lost the breather tube/filler. So,I took an old pr of 327 valve covers (15 bucks) and drill a 1 1/2 " hole and welded a short tube with a filler cap . Motor breathes just fine. Rick
Or you could use a Moroso PCV grommet and late style PCV valve. This is one in a 409, but it'll show the idea. Larry T
frank, what is a "soft" plug? 36-3window paragon corvette here: http://www.corvette-paragon.com/p-349523-crankcase-vent-tube.aspx
by the way, in case anyone else is interested i found this during my research last night. just search for pcv conversion on ebay or google.
what are the tubes/baffles inside the engine?? anyone got a pic? I've got a 283 sitting in my 32 that the road draft tube was plugged and was setup for later Q-jet intake and vented valve covers. I don't know if it's got the internal baffles still or not. pics would be very helpful
found that too. here ya go. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/57-6...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item19b9890fa0
thanks brady, I just picked up an edelbrock C4b that I'm going to run on this motor. I finally decided that I just don't want to mess with three 97's on this motor. Having to clean and rebuild the two on my flathead every spring is bad enough. Just means the 32 will have a hood on it....
how cool is this? bob, z.diddy offered to send me one at no charge. what a guy! this is only one reason why i love the hamb.
Another ATTA boy for Z.Diddy ... He is a very nice guy. He sent me some 32 3W stuff also ... Deuce Roadster
