Going to look at a 67 Chevy deuce next week. Never had one and wonder what problem areas I should look for other than obvious fender, trunk and maybe floor pan rust. Do these have suspension rot issues? It's a "6" but if I get it, it won't be for long.
They tend to rust where the front suspension clip is bolted to the firewall, towards the top. And, of course, the floorboards. I think the floors came pre-rusted from the factory. Cars that had any power put to them, or that were used on rough roads, tend to have the front springeye boxes on the rear springs ovaled out. Most likely, the interior will be shot. But, it's a 67 Chevy II/Nova, and those are just little things. Wish I could find one. Butch/56sedandelivery.
The entire cowl-top, inside, edges and sides. The floor under the pedals, the quarters and wheel houses, the rear tail panel.
If you need Nova specific info go to Steve's: http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums/index.php OH ....and don't call it a deuce .
Out here in California... they only rusted around the lower part of the rear window... and sometimes the front window. Unless they were abused and driven in dirt... then you get rust in the lower front fenders, rear quarters, lower door corners... Sam
Front shock towers (fatigue),rear spring shackle discs sometimes pop out,floorpans,trunkpan... Look at the chromed potmetal dogleg on the rear sidewindow. They pockmark real bad. Check front suspension too. Neat little cars.. Good luck!
