Man, just as the '55 got to driving stage, something came apart in the motor. It started to knock a little at really low RPM. Pulled the pan and there's metal shards everywhere. Pulled the #1 rod bearing and it's got metal pieces ground into it! Something's come apart in there. Now it looks like a complete rebuild is necessary. This is the '66 Corvette 327 that was built and wrapped up and put into storage a long time ago. Too bad! Oh well, whatcha gonna do.... If anyone local in Salt Lake City area has a good 327 PM me!
Ouch! Sorry man I know the feeling, why not just go 350 short and rebuild the 327 on your own schedule? Bolt on the 2 hump heads and roll!
as they say "par for the course". after sitting for so long did you prime oil thru the motor before firing? plus, ya never know what may have been done wrong with the ***embly years back. if ya got the knowledge and bucks completely go thru motor again. otherwise just set up any running motor till the right time comes along. never easy, or cheap.
Looks like Plan B is to throw my 385 fastburn crate motor in there. Not as nostalgic as the 327 w/fuelie heads and 2x4's, but it will do for now. The old 327 is going to go through a complete rebuild.
