I picked this up at a garage sale this weekend and just can't figure out what it would have been used for. Any ideas? There was also another one that said "Classic". Kink of wish I picked it up as well.

Horn button. It goes inside the steering wheel and through the column.

    Don't know the year.

That would make a cool walking stick for the Blue oval man who has everything.

Yep, horn button for early V8 flathead. Never saw one with the tits! How long is the rod under button?

The knobs (tits) were used to rotate the center shaft for the headlights.

Yes Head light "knob" selector?? and horn button for 38/39.

One of the cool interesting features of an early Ford. At one time good ones like this, with the rod intact, got pricey but I think the demand has faded.

yes and the body was flatter with less dome.

The V8 Affair book shows this as a 38. The 39 that they show, a Deluxe, has different knots on it and is fancier. There could be 2 designs possibly standard and Deluxe. I'm sure it would fit either year. I got a 39 standard steering column complete with a banjo that a friend pulled out 40 years ago when he first hot rodded it. It has the two round knots like this one.

Right, the 39 Std is the same as the 38.

I got a great deal on it. I picked up a very nice 8BA flathead with a merc crank for $50, and he just gave me the horn button.

Great start. A 1/4 stroker flathead and a banjo wheel..something to build a car around!
