    +1.

You'll make out much better financially in long run by selling it to a Stude collector and then using the money to buy something more traditionally rodded.

Definitely. And if it WERE to be rodded, resto-rod, with fenders.

Nobody can say how many of the St. Regis (long door) body style are left, but the guy on ebay is not far off. I've been in the Studebaker drivers club for 13 years and never seen one. On paper, the car is worth a lot as is, and more restored.
I'd think this one over carefully. In my eyes that an incredibly rare and desirable car.

Make it a rod if you love the car and have a vision for it. But not just becasue its what you happen to have on hand.
There is a club just for pre-war Studes if you want to try and get some more info - http://www.theantiquestudebakerclub.com/

How much money would you make on it if you left it stock and sold it?
It's too rare....dont rod it ...sell it to a collector.
Isnt it part of keeping our American car thing alive? Share our heritage with others.
Take the profit and build an A Tudor.....

It's yours so you can do what you want but I have to vote "hell no" on this one. A word of warning, Studebaker fanatics are usually wound pretty tight about their cars they may not take kindly to your efforts, you've been warned.
Having said that, one of the prettier little rod coupes I ever saw was an early 30's Studebaker Rockne coupe.

A nice Stude 289 would be very cool... A nice tasteful hot rod would be very cool.

Looking at your avatar you might oughta take your own advice on ugly.

My choice was easy....I found a '32 Stude-Rockne 3-window coupe body only...no fenders. So, I'm in the process of channeling 4 inches, chopping 3 inches with a 4 inch section on the grill shell. I'm fabing everything from the ground up and having a blast creating the car. Have a 354 hemi with T-10 4 speed going in it. Hope this helps with your decision

That thing would make a *****in' highboy. A small chop ('bout 3"), no hood, and a hemi.

  10. That thing would look awesome hotroded out!

  11. Hot rod it! after all, thats why we are here.

I think the eBay car is worth the 30k starting bid. The issue is the seller is a known dealer and he's had that car up a number of times. I'm sure he wants more then the starting bid, but maybe not.

If you bolt it all together and ***uming it's fairly complete I think you may be able to get 15 - 20k for the one in this thread. I would at least try to sell it that way first before messing with it. Those chrome artillery wheels are the super cool.

I own a '32 Studebaker 4 door President hot rod and love it.....they built the St. Regis Brougham in three wb lengths - President -135", Commander - 125", and the Dictator - 117"......The St. Regis Broughams are relatively rare especially the President models...this was Studebaker's version of the victoria...I've had mine a long time and still am amazed at the attention she gets....just came back yesterday from the Street Rod Nats in Louisville. I now have 89,000 hot rod miles on mine...don't chop it, it won't need it! Measure the wheelbase to determine what you have and if happens to be a 135" President, you might want to part it out or sell....those pieces are valuable to say the least. I'm attaching a few pics of mine and a link for more info.......Joe
