Ford, a well done Henry is the way to go! Search the site there are a couple of places to get one dropped or buy one outright.
there are only 3 companies that make a forged dropped i-beam. so-call speed shop, super bell, and chassis eng.. if you want a steel forged i-beam the list drops to so-cal speed shop and chassis eng. if you want an aluminum i-beam the only choice is super bell. if you need one that will work with stock 37-48 ford spindles with out using bolt on steering arms, so-cal is the only one. hopes this helps. -danny
"if you need one that will work with stock 37-48 ford spindles with out using bolt on steering arms, so-cal is the only one." Magnum axles work with stock steering arms too.
I've sold 100s of Superbell axles with no problems, also lots of CE axles, but lately I've done a few chassis with S0-Cal forged axle and gennie 37/40 spindles and like what I see. There's a rumor that there is a stock style 37/40 round forged spindle with the stock steering arms coming soon.
I have two cars with Chassis Engineering dropped axles, one has '48 Ford spindles and the other one has '37 Ford spindles, both have stock reshaped steering arms. My Roadster has an undropped stock '32 axle with '37 spindles. I like the CE axle for full fendered cars because of the additional tire to fender clearance. And it's made in the USA.
Thanks guys alot of good info out there i wanted to run the 40 ford stuff was just trying to find out the best eay to go heard alot about the so cal stuff.
Here's my 40 Ford dropped axle from Nostalgia Sid. I used the CE bolt-on steering arms because I thought the design was superior, and because they have the most clearance of any of the others I've seen. I didn't trust myself to heat/bend the arms. Actually, a 4" drop is measured from the bottom of the center of the axle, and is not actually "dropped" 4 inchs...
Sid's buddy Charlie did two Model As for me, several other guys here on the H.A.M.B. also drop Henry axles. I think Magnum axles are cast, I may be wrong.
Having lived with a Superbell aluminum axle,,I can honestly say I won't use another one,,they look good but stand back and kick the tire and watch the axle flex,,the tire actually moves. I'm not saying it's unsafe and I put a lot of miles on my roadster,,but it was always in the back of my mind,, Nothing but Forged axles for me in the future. HRP
Nothing beats an Original Axle that has been dropped. ALL aftermarket axles look .... Well .... AFTERMARKET ! Sid does Nice axles ... He is working on an Original '22 Dodge Dropped axle for me right now. I Personally would Never spend my $$$$ on anything except an Original axle that has been Dropped, I leave the Aftermarket for the Check Book Guys !
If you're not gonna have an original dropped give Eric your business, he's a good dude.... http://www.riley-auto.com/
I am putting a So-cal under My 34, with stock 46 spindels and arms. so far so good. I like the way it looks. I just got it mocked up. still need a spring a perches.
good info from all thanks my question is which brake system 40 ford or 46-50 ford or the f1 truck brakes
Anything from '39 up is hydraulic, but the F-100 are extra nice because they are self energizing, and you can slip 45-fin Buick drums right over them for the "bad-ass old-school" look, without all the expensive machine work. There's a how-to in the Tech archives.

If my Superbell aluminum axle was going to fail it would have done so by now, driving on these Oklahoma roads, it's got to be tough. In many cases a rigid structure will fail before a flexible structure.
Thanks again to all man theres alot of good info out there i 'am likeing th So Cal front why cant you get a 48'' in this
