Just found a smoking deal on a 66 F100 - will be just what I need for work. Can anyone point me in the right direction for parts or the best way to get this thing closer to the ground?
im most likely wrong but ive heard of fliping the i beam or take a blade and flatten the tires either way good luck
cut and step the frame rails 4" between firewall and crossmember.[re mount engine....and radiator cradle]
Mor-drop use to drop twin I-beams , maybe they still do..if they are still in business? Belltech makes 3" drop twin I-beams , not sure if they do for your application
[ QUOTE ] im most likely wrong but ive heard of fliping the i beam [/ QUOTE ] what would flipping the axle??? I'm gonna get struck by lightning, but I put an '80 z28 clip in mine.

if you want to go lower than 3" drop, cut that shit out and put something else in. I have seen volare clips, mustang based, and LTD clips. like mentioned, ElPolako makes dakota kit. dropped I beams can only get you 3". once you start cutting springs to drop it, the tires get tilted in on the top. for the rear end, lowering shackles, lowered leafs, or put the axle on top of the spring for a big drop.
Im gonna hijack here ...I have a 56 Effie..Which would be the best for changing to IFS.MustangII,Volare?Im just starting to tear into this thing.
You can get dropped beams as mentioned, but they will kill your ground clearence. The front crossmember is huge on these trucks. I plan on using an 84 lincoln front, and flipping the rear end. I am pretty sure that they make a four bar kit for it. Check with Godfathers. As mentioned earlier, you can get a spring and shackle kit for them, but only for a maximum of about 4-4.5".
I'm with Hatch. Take it out of gear, release the E-brake and push it over the edge. Then go buy yerself a 55, 56 f-100 and go from there.
I have a friend that is putting a Aerostar IFS in his 66 looks like a pretty easy swap. And he got the Aerostar really cheap $100.00 (After a close encounter with a Moose) then stripped out the carcass sold the tranny for $200.00 he is way ahead the game.
