Seattle in April????????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Human Fly, Mar 2, 2010.

  1. I will be in Seattle from 7th April to about the 20th April.
I intend to go to the Portland swap as I hear good reports about it, also the air museum, anything else I should check out in the area or on the way back from VLV show????????

I would also like to hear from any hunters in the area.

Bring an umbrella and a few extra pairs of dry socks! Some parts of the PIR track gets flooded if...er... when it starts raining hard.

Don't bother with an umbrella. Just buy a cheap set of rain gear, including a hat. The rain is almost always accompanied by some wind and an umbrella is worthless. Accept the idea that you will get a little wet, no matter what. Be cheered by the guarantee that this event will totally be worth getting a little wet for.

Another vote for Dicks Drive In. Love that place. And as touristy as it is...I always love to check out the view from the Space Needle on a nice night. And if you are at the Seattle Science Center around 11pm on a Friday or Saturday night...you HAVE TO check out the Pink Floyd laser light show. Absolutely the best!!! I grea up around the Seattle area, and still have a bunch of friends and family that I visit.

Which flight museum, McMinnville or Boeing?
another portland swap meet secret. Take along one of those nifty little folding totes with wheels (findem at the local Wally world). nothing like parking a 1/4 mile away ... finding some nifty widget and having to carry it for a couple hours. Your arm will thank you

  21. Mt Vernon Wa swap meet April 17. Probably just over an hour from SeaTac.
Golden Ears swap meet April 18 Maple Ridge B.C approx 1.5 hrs from Mt Vernon.

Both are small but fun. Hit Mt Vernon Saturday morning, then drive up to B.C in the afternoon and spend the night before going to the swap meet on Sunday, have some lunch and be back in Seattle that afternoon.

    Do both if you can.

McMinnville has the Spruce Goose, Howard Hughes hugh wooden airplane and Boeing has an SR-71 Blackbird.

I'm not really an airplane guy but seeing those both are cool.

Regarding the Portland swap meets: Last year I did not see all of either of them and devoted three days. Give yourself plenty of time even if all you're doing is racing past stuff.

  24. Thanks Oldsub.
There are two swaps a mile apart is that right? Do they both start on the Thursday?? Whats the deal there?

The pay parking lot is the same for both swaps with a shuttle running to the one further away. In years past one started Thursday and the other Friday. Both run through Sunday.

I don't know the deal on the differing schedules on the same weekend. I'm sure there is a story...

I won't be there this year and I'm not very happy about that fact but can't change it.
