So, I inherited my dad's beautiful Snap-On 30gal parts washer the other day. In need of solvent I went to Tractor Supply and spent $160+ on 20gal of "special" solvent. Just to play it safe I poured about a gallon in the barrel to check for leaks in the bottom and sure enough...leaks. It turns out the seam is rusting all the way around and was too far gone to fix. I called every oil supplier in town and couldn't find a 30 gal barrel to save my life. I called Safety Kleen to see if I could bum an empty barrel off of them and they are now delivering a new FULL barrel of solvent for $100. The other unopened jugs of solvent are going back to Tractor Supply, so I'll be putting a bit of saved money in my pocket. A good deal in my opinion. That is all.

Not to mention the fluid from Safety Kleen is probably more effective. A buddy of mine is a rep for a similar chemical company up here and the differance between the stuff I got from TSC and from him was night and day.

Nothing against TSC. Some of their stuff is overpriced and they have some uncommon items when you need them in a hurry. Their nuts and bolts...dude. Cheapest around in this area. By the pound.

Are you going to try and save the parts cleaner or replace it?

The cleaner is still like new the barell just rusted underneath from condensation. The barell is replaceable. It just clamps on. The new one wont be the pretty red but who cares. It will work perfectly. When I need new solvent they'll come out to my house and swap the barells for the same price!

****, might not concern you, but I think SK makes you file some kind of environmental report on any missing solvent when they come to change it out. I am not absolutely sure, but it might be worth asking. My thoughts are it might get you a visit from the EPA if they thought something didn't add up.

I'll ask about that. I did tell them that it may be a year or so before I may need a swap and they said to add Kerosene to the mix if evaporation became a problem.

As long as the ATF doesn't show up I should be ok. Don't ask.

Agree 100%. TSC is redonkuless on some stuff but when I needed a 6 volt starter solinoid for the 50 ford they had it on the shelf. Not NAPA, Auto Zone, Advanced or Car Quest. To keep this thread on track, Safty Kleen Rocks!
