I found a cheap 1962 Ford station wagon (not Country Squire)...(patina project thing...want to put Torq Thrusts IIs on it, etc. maybe) in Lusk, Wy. Before I even buy it and call a transport co., I have one issue - the old guy took the wheels off and put it on blocks 25 years ago... HAD them until his relative wanted to use them on a car in recent years. 5 x 4.5"? So I need to try to buy some old ford wheels and (even junkyard quality) tires that will hold air a liottle, NEAR him. ~~So...IF you live close to LUSK, WY...are seeing this on the HAMB, and do not need the stock stuff...let me know what you would want for 'em! Maybe I can have the old guy agree to pick them up or something. IF I can find something...maybe I'll buy the car. Kind of a deciding factor, though!
You should take a look where Lusk, WY is ..... You will have a problem finding transport out of there: @ http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=L...=42.762501&longitude=-104.451698&geocode=CITY I am in Evanston right now - the economy is in the shitter here Jim
RE: "...You should take a look where Lusk, WY is ..... You will have a problem finding transport out of there: ..." ...I was worried about that (haven't tried yet)...but it looks like it's right on that E-to-W I-80...?
I'm in Rock Springs. I could take some tires and wheels up there and snag your wagon for a fee, and you could get it transported out of here easier. I'm right on I-80. Shit, I'd bring it to Vegas for the right price. Is it a full size wagon?
I see now - I was looking at the wrong highway #. "80" is by Cheyenne, then you go North. That road is not markes on the mpqst LV, NV to Lusk, WY map. Just named in the description. "20"? http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Las...=WY&2y=US&2l=42.762501&2g=-104.451698&2v=CITY
No, it's I-25. That's what I meant if it's a fullsize, not a Falcon or Fairlane, the big wagons are way cooler anyway. Still no problem. Let me know if I can help.
Cool - since I am a Chevy person trying to do it long distance. 5 by 4.5" Ford, I guess? Old Dodge wheels - Oh, yeah - I remember a guy picked up a 1952 Ford wagon parts car I sold last Sumer, and brought some old Mopar wheels to put on it. This car looks solid, (don't you guys have any rust there...?) but the cool thing about it is that it got the worn, "patina" 'd" look without also having lower rust. Without being too ratty. Just worn through the paint on the top surfaces, but not too surface rusty yet, either. 25 years was the right anount of time, I guess, on that... So I just thought it might be kind of cool looking as a driver, shined up. Crashnburns - I'll be on touch soon.
One thing to note from the picture: If it's been sitting on the brake drums for a long time you'll want to replace them. They probably have a flat spot that will cause an annoying pedal pulse, or they may even be weakened enough to break when you need them most.
just got me a 62 ranch wagon last month. Wheels are 5 on 4 1/2. Am using a set of factory ranger wheels for rollers now. Wagons ho!!!!!!!!!
