I would like to install 56 olds starfire caps on my 46 coupe, but I'm concerned the stock rear axle hub sticks out too far for them to fit. Does anyone know if they will clear if mounted on 53 F 100 wheels? I also have a set of reversed mercury wheels I could use if I needed to.
    Suggestions?

Anybody ever install these caps or 53-55 olds or something similar on 1 of these cars? What wheels/ offset did you use?
    Thanks

Ummmm, just run skirts on the back w/some trim rings, I ran 40 Lasalle caps on my 41 Ford Coupe, granted I had to weld 46 Ford trim rings to them, but I rock skirts & it's lowered in the back so I fool the unwashed m***es!
If you don't run skirts then I have no ansewer for you! You will have to sell the car!
Sounds like a cool car you have, could you post a pic or 2?
    Sincerely,

  5. I did a tech article on how to adapt 15" caps to 16" dress rings. It will not work using early ford wheels with standard running gear, as the dust caps stick out to far and same with the axle nuts on the rear end. It may work with your reversed wheels depending on the offset.

The wheels I'm using are 15". I might run skirts too, but still unsure. I would like to know if anyone has any idea what rim I can use or what back spacing to be able to install rear full hub caps. I would prefer to use a production style wheel like a truck, van etc.
    thanks

I have 56 Olds non spinners on my '47 Ford with old unknown year 15" wheels. They clear the stock rear axles fine. Photos in my photo albums if you need to see them.
