My brother-n-law's dad has a T-bucket that he is rebuilding. It has a 1961 364 Buick Nailhead in it and the harmonic balancer has a crack in it. I was wondering if anyone has one or if anyone knows where he can find a new one? Any help would be great.
Google! There used to be a company there in Cali that only did balancers? "Damper Dudes rebuilds stock nailhead balancers to better than stock - 1-800-413-2673", you might be able to get one from them outright or find an old stock one and exchange?
Gorila, the nailhead harmonic balancer is intergal to the specific engine. I think the term is partially externally balanced. If you look at the balancer, it has some number of pins or slugs pressed into it near the O.D.. Make sure you fully understand what is involved in replacing the damper. Do NOT throw away the cracked one until you are sure the new one does the job. Damper Dudes is a very good source.
I love this crowd!! You guys are the most!! Umm... Don't mind me, Im just tippin' a few... Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for everyones help I really appreciate it. We are going to check the Pomona Auto Swap meet this weekend. If we don't fine one there I'm sure we can find one online. Thanks again everyone.
