when trucks are done in that fashion it reminds me of a beak of a bird. haha. any more pics of it? i have the same truck.
Seen that in Kentucky at the Hot Rod nationals this year. Well made and alot of creativity went into it.
Door sign should read "Patience my ASS" "I'm gonna kill sumpthin'" And a BUZZARDS plaque on the back.
It was a little hard to type until I cleaned the drool off the keyboard. DAMN is that thing cool ass shit!
very interesting design, I like it a lot. Has a bit too much gimmicky stuff like the connecting rod brakepedal, grille for a firewall, and "aged" red paint. But the proportions and layout are great. It would look outstanding if it was finished up with a straight body and paint.
Somebody from around Indy built it it was just in rod and custom or some other rag It was sold to someone I heard during Indy Goodguys it must be for sale again then.
I need to gather some junk so I can cash in, quick. I saw it at Indy and I really dug it, actually I was kind of pissed because I was planning a hudson grilled car at the time. But 28 grand? Come on, I could build that car for 10 grand or less easy. That is paying top dollar for parts. Hudson grilles have been pricey ever since that car came about too.
Don't think of this car as a "Rat Rod" because it is not. A better term would be "Period Piece Hot Rod." This project started as a 46 Chevy cab and hood. Original builder Ted Houtchin of Whiteland, IN is an artist and his vision of what a 50's period hot rod should look like came to life in this car. But it isn't a period piece at all. When have you ever seen that mix of parts used in the time period it is supposed to emulate? It just didn't happen. It's not that I don't like it, I kinda do. Some things about it anyway. But don't call it a period piece. It's an interpretation of it. And a very inaccurate one. Didn't Bobbleed say something like, "We've had years to perfect our INTERPRETATION of a traditional hot rod." Maybe I'm splitting hairs. And I don't want to squash creativity by any means. But accuracy is important when we teach the new generation about the way things really were. I know. I'm in that crowd. I want to know the way things were REALLY done. Then I can deviate from that if I decide to. ***End of Rant***
Nothing like fake PATINA to get me OFF. For that kinda cash you could almost buy a REAL HOTrod like the '32 5 window listed in the classifieds. That car has real PATINA and a real story. (and it actually looks good too!) but hey, not my money. -r
Since when did hot-rodding mean you have to follow some other guys' rules?? The guy did what he wanted and said to hell with the rules.
If you ask me the truck is cool in its own way, but I'd be suprised if it pulls that kinda money. I don't care what mag its been in it just ain't worth it, and that certanly doesn't make it cool. What happened to having your own opinion? Losta magazines run losta crap I don't like. If it even gets one bid some one is getting cheated. It makes me think of what someone else said about a gold chainer sanding down a 10g paint job to primer it like everyone else. I think thats just the magazines catering to the fad. Sorry about the rant but 28,500 for that? Whats the hot rod world coming to. is it to the point where we'll pay more for a "rat rod" than for a well built Rod. Drew
Front end is bitchin'. The cab and bed proportions are so off it looks like an elfs shoe or some such. Perhaps a longer bed and less of a chop in the front roof would even it out a bit. $28,500 is a joke however.
i have one of those grills i tryed to get grimlock to use it on his modified like 2 yrs ago would have looked really kool
I'm like some of you, it probably won't make 28K, but hey, who knows? Some Japanese guy might be sitting at home drooling all over his key board just itching to push that buy it now button! And as far as rules go, who needs'em? Everyone needs to realize that your not going to see ONLY Exactly period perfect, correct right down to the right set of lug nuts for that time, cars on here. People are going to push the envelope. Like someone said earlier, he built it how he wanted it and he is happy, and thats all that matters. Its funny how well recieved my '61 was at the first cruise night I took it to. I remember one guy saying, "Fianally, someone had balls enough to build and or drive something different around here." In Arkansas thats saying a lot.
The windshield/roof is ugly, it reminds me of that stupid looking yellow coupe thing that Boyd built about 10 or 15 years ago.
You know, if I had $28,000 to blow on a ride, it would most definatly be this one......... THIS IS A VERY SCARY CAR. CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!
mr. 26 inch wheels says he lost his license, wonder if the fashion police took it from him? that thing should be on the cover of Custom Rodder!
[ QUOTE ] Spend that kind of money on a Prowler I woulda thought you'd take better care of it. [/ QUOTE ] Man, That's some funny shit!
