I have always wanted a Travco Motor home and have a line on a 1973 220 (22ft model) with a 413 engine. The engine has only 33,000 miles on it! I would fly down to Fl. and drive it back to Illinois. My question is should I add some leaded Avgas to the gas tank at each fill up or just run Premium and be done with it. Anyone got a 60's-70's 413 that knows if the valve seats are ok to run on lead free?

Amoco gasoline was always leadfree even in the 30s-40s-50s-60s. Don't sweat the gas. The 413 in motor homes was an industrial motor, likely has hardened seats anyway, rather than the hotrod motor in cars.

That sweet old truck will take you anywhere you want to go and keep you warm and dry. Love old motorhomes especially Travco/Dodge and Barth trucks. Friend has a 22ft Barth and a 27ft Barth. 20 years ago I came real close to buying a Dodge/Travco 220 for $3500. Sorry I missed it.

I've used several motorhome 440s in hot rods and musclecars and even with a lead foot the unleaded gas is fine.

Hardened seats in BB Mopar heads came in @ '74...FWIW.

You could always switch over to a newer set of 440 heads if you wanted to. I believe that 400 "B" heads will work also.

    Drive it unleaded.
By the time the valves have sunk so far down in the heads, the heads themself would probably need to be rebuilt aswell because of valveguide wear, rusted out core-plugs or worn rockerhafts.
Any newer style head with factory induction hardened seats will have 'open' chambers, which will loose you a half point in compression ratio.

I've run my 383's on non-leaded gas and they run just fine. They don't like regular though, premium only

Come on guys pay attention !!! All 413's used in motorhomes are Industrial and have hard seats and very special valves and will also run on propane. No you can't just bolt on a car or light truck head. Pasadena hot rod is correct. Look at the spark plugs if they are up on top like 360 & 318 and angled it's a Industrial, if the plugs are straight and down low it is a car motor.
