Hey guys, since I sold my Olds I'm looking for another project for me and my grandpa to build....I looked on Craigslist and found a 62 stude lark. Just needs rear brakes to be a driver, with a 6 cylinder...now what I need an opinion on is: if I get it should I run the six with split exhaust, dual carbs,gl***packs. Or a built up Plymouth 318(outta barracuda)?????with the 318 it would be a sleeper. Check the pics.
Wow, if you did the 318 thing, you might have the only '62 Lark on the planet running a 318. That would be an interesting swap, to say the least.
Well long story short, My grandpa has cancer now and is going thru Chemo which is making him a little bit weaker, and to much work+no time anymore I didn't want to but yeah...I sold it to a guy with a hot rod shop who is going to make it a kustom, slammed, suede black paint, etc.
haha yeah i know, my grandpa thought it would be cool with the built up 6 for a while. Did I mention the 6 has a 3speed?
There's a guy near here running a Stude like that at the drags, but I don't know what motor. Overall it looks clean and straight, if it runs and the price is right I say go for it. I know full well between you and Attastude it'll be neat no matter which way you decide to go. BTW, how is he doing? I haven't heard anything lately, tell him Jim says hello!
Jon,...definitely not a mainstream car,but for your info, John Hyland (well known NW dragster owner and construction co) worked at a Studebaker dealership in Springfield and owned a Lark in highschool 1960s...look what it got him! p.s. planning to see you Sat. if all goes as planned,ok? Randy
beware of rust. check the front fenders, on top, just beneath the corner of the windshied. Also check the insides and bottom of the doors. Larks are cool. Great sleepers. Have fun.
Was thinking of a Gremlin, and putting in a straight 6 from a Jeep, which might work well in your car too. I am the Grandpa with this project! Get that sleeper running, I will be looking for a Gremlin, lots of luck.
