Some one please school me on the correct way to apply seam sealer. Is it simply ran in a bead like silicon around a tub, or is it supposed to be spread and smoothed once applied like you would see in a trunk? Thanks for any help.

i spray a coat of primer first then apply the seam sealer. you get either tube or a can and brush it on. my old boss used to put lacquer on his finger to smooth it out. i pissed one day and and instead of getting the lacquer i just put some spit on my finger and it actually worked nice. the sealer didn't stick as long as you kept spit on your finger. i know it sounds sick but fuck it it was nice and smooth in the gutter seam.

We used that trick in the Air Force when spreading sealant, works alot better than you would think...spit the wonder lube.

some of those old cars had the sealer brushed on. So, if you want a more orginal look, brush it.

Prime then seam seal. You don't have to spit on your finger. LOL. Lacquer thinner works good also. :D

Now dont laugh, but you can cut a potato like a french fry and use it. We do this with silicone all the time. Cut the end in the profile you want. I usallt put sealer on top of primer first.

Try using liquid hand soap to smooth out sealant,it's what we used for aircraft sealant.

I also tape out the areas where I'm going to seal.It leaves an even width of sealant on high visibility areas. let it set up for a bit and peel away the tape to leave a clean line. I too use the thinner and finger smooth method.
