I mean don't all hot rods have to have Chevy small blocks or at least American Engines in a Ford body??
I'll freely admit that I'm out of step here..
I have a ton of old spare stuff I've been collecting for more decades than most have been alive.
I'm thinking of using a supercharged inline 6 on an old body that looks like it's from the 30's but was made in 1950. The thing is, it's not Yankee but Limey (British) The engine was designed during WW2 and introduced in 1949 the body was a variation of the famous MG midget from the 1930's
The frame will of course be home made using Jaguar suspension. Call it a MGuar. (MG/Jaguar)
The wheels will be American, but with a real differance!
They are made by Halibrand and they are real pin drive magnesium knock offs. (on Jaguar hubs). No you've never seen these before. They were designed for Troutman and Barnes for the Chapparel MK1 (then called the Riverside Special) Darn few of those ever made. Only set machined to work on Jaguar hubs.
OK it's your group and if I offend you I won't continue

Out of step? I don't know what you've heard about the HAMB, but I sure hope that it hasn't been that we only accept SBC's and Ford bodies. What you have sounds like pure hot rod innovation that is set apart from the masses - just my flavor. I'd love some pictures, and a personal tour if time allows! The HAMB takes thick skin, but don't hesitate for a second to post your knowledge - for every idiot that may consider putting down something unique, there are many more that are waiting to learn from your decades of experience!

    Sincerely,
    Some young guy

Welcome , no not all hot rods have to have chev motors , some have Y-Blocks:eek::eek::eek::D:D:D:D

  10. Unusual is good. Hot rodding is all about building with what you have on hand or can get. Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup an Ozelle the '55 Ford are impressed and they send friendly horn honks.

I understand you,,you can store your old parts here at my place while the others fight over them.
    Oh and Welcome.

  15. Hell yes your welcome here!! Take what you got and build something to drive and go have fun, that's what are crew does!! Don't worry about what others want you to build.

  16. All Hot Rods are Chevy powered Ford bodies. You Bet, that is if you can't think for yourself, don't have any Fab skills, and always half to start with "Crap" someone wants to get rid of. On the other hand young guns half to start somewhere and lets hope they get past the 1-800 parts please. You'll find a complete mix here including plenty Chev/Ford stuff. The good part is most are trying to add there own Twist with what they have on hand. Lot's of good stuff and very talented people here.
    Welcome

  24. Well, I'm personally not too into British stuff but what you've got is vintage and what you're doing, though not traditional, sound like the true hot rod spirit to me!

I'm intrigued now. Tell us more about this project and post pics when you can! Yes, you're welcome here.

Some might try to piss in your cornflakes but just tell them to shove off. There's alot more of us who are interested in what you are doing.

    Welcome aboard.

Seems as if there were some people who got pissed a while back about a gasser bug that was put on here. That being said and the fact that you have a foreign car I am sure that something will be said. There are alot of awesome people here with a ton of knowledge and a few assholes too, but hey they are everywhere. Just build the coolest thing you can with what you got. Thats how they did it in the ol days right?

Not really RACIST but more PREJUDICE. I don't like peanut butter either, but limey is good..........especially in Diet Coke; and I ALWAYS order extra LEMONY. ;):D

Sorry to hoard, I raced vintage cars for decades and needed spares. Since None of my cars had any real disasters I wound up with tons of old parts and need to use them up before I take my long dirt nap.
(one other use I have for my parts collection is I'm going Ice racing with a V12 XKE) since there is bound to be a lot of body contact and most of the racers seem to treat ice racing like a contact sport I should use some more parts up..

Actaully limey is factually based.. Many British colonalists had to drink quinine regularly and to kill the bitter taste they drink it with Gin. Gin with quinine is a difficult drink to acquire a taste for so they used to kill that taste with the addition of limes. Hence Limey or someone who drinks limes.
It's not racist at all and it's a stretch to even call it offensive.
Now calling me a frog (slang for Frenchmen) could be considered offensive since the use of that term became popular from American servicemen during the wars..
(I don't know the origin of wop, or dago, kroutes does come like Frog from eating preferances, again made popular by American servicemen)
I'm not offended by being called a yank or yankee and frankly darn few Americans would be.. It's simply a slanfg way of refering to a group.. while it can be derogatory it is all in the inflection and not in the term itself..
Just for information Pomey is a term Australians tagged themselves with. Prisoner of Mother England) Since the vast majority of Australians were sent there to empty British debters prisons..

pictures won't happen, sorry. I've bought countless camera's in my day some extremely expensive ones. On average they last a year or less. Some things I simply give up on.
