New winter project at the Chopper Hell Garage.

The rig was found somewhere in Southern Minnesota. it had not moved since 1956. It was picked up with a front loader dropped on a trailer and dragged off the trailer in my driveway just before Thanksgiving 2009.

Removed the body and anything we thought we could use or was of value and scrapped the rest...

Perhaps I am confused. Will it remain a closed cab? I like this year of truck and appreciate the closed cab look.

  9. That WAS a nice cab. Those doors would have fetched enough to order actual RPU doors.

It ain't no "Liquor Box" box no more, more like a ...... weld the pieces ya cut off back on and you will have a cool truck. Right now it looks to be a bit R*t R%d.
I usually don't have much negative to say about someone elses efforts, but you have fu*&ed up some good tin! I would have traded the truck project in my avatar for that cab.

I dont usually critise hot rod builds, but I got to say you have not made any friends doing what you have done to that cab.

Even hot rodders need to be responsible in a hot rodding kind of way.
Doing what you have, does not make you a hero.

Boyd Coddington got bitch slapped in an LA bar for cutting the roof off a 35 coupe to turn it into a roadster/coupester.

Folks take this hobby and their cars seriously.
Sure you own it and you can crush if you'd like, but some how that is just in the spirit of what we are about, right!

With the kind of attitude you have shown, you may as well go and join the ratrod crew.

Chopping is an art not a blood sport.

Not trying to be a hero. Just dont like driving a phone booth. Didnt want to make enemies just wanted to show the project. Big mistake I guess. Its going to be some much fun to drive.

I don't understand why you used a 28-29 pickup if you don't want to drive a phone booth. Build a real roadster pickup if that is what you want.I think you have a good plan you just used the wrong truck to start with .You could sell the cab with doors and pickup a good cowl and build a roadster .

in a world of chopped trucks I like my phone booth. I get out and can still walk. My 29 would take me about 4-5 mins to get my body workin again just to make it into the gas station.
Aint trying to dog ya partner. You have the right to like what you like and build what you want "its all urine peepee". The great thing about this board though is how different we all are. Sure will never get us all to agree thats for damn sure. guys are just cringing seeing that cab cut. Those are getting pretty hard to find. I built that 29 out of a 29 sedan cowl and front pillar because I sure couldn't find one (note the belt line)

    Have fun driving it .

In all honesty if I didnt wack the top off it woud of been chopped. Thats what we like. IF chopped it would have been alot and there wouldnt have been much tin left. The parts cut off will go to someone needing them. I didnt need them, didnt scrap them. They went to a good home. Theres lots of tin getting hard to find all years makes and models. People are still choppin and cutn. This truck had been sitting for sale for many years.

hot rodding is supposed to be about expressing your self while throwing the bird to convetions and standards. sio theres no reason to justify your self. that being said keep posting progress what ever you come out with it'll be BA.

Those doors WERE worth about $400 a piece. You do know that right? It's still NOT a roadster. You do know that right?
