It's a bit different from BRG...it is unique and it seems was a popular matt color from the past...might even be a facrtory color on some obscure paint chart...but I'm still looking. It seems it carries the RAL # of 6034, 6027, 6011, 6013 and 6000 on the powdercoating color charts. But I know I haven't seen the "exhaustive" offerings...hoping some here have more info WITH Pics if that isn't too much to ask.

Really? Is that primer something that will last and not fade?

  9. Here is a pic of my ol' girl. It is painted BRG. When I had the original paint mixed for it in about 1985 I learned then that BRG came in 3 shades. There is a dark shade that almost looks black in poorer light conditions then two lighter shades from memory mine is the lighter one from memory. As to what is available now I cant say.

it is a catalyzed (ie it has a hardener) primer so it will resist moisture better than most other primers. it will still be somewhat susceptible to UV fading but is one of the more durable primers out there.

I'm thinking this is more of a Gray/Green.

This car was posted on the HAMB and I saved the picture because I liked the color. It's 1938 Ford Avon Blue. It looks more green than blue and maybe what your looking for flattened. Its not quite right but its closer than BRG or army green.

The car in the original picture posted, belongs to a friend in Bay City name Marvin. The color is actually a hotrod flatz green. He wasnt happy with the sheen on the paint, so he scuffed it down with a scotch brite pad to flatten it out even more. The darker color on the louvers and feature lines is the original color before it was scuffed.

I believe it is HotRod Flatz olive drab green... here is a link

    Roupe......

The OUTDOOR pic looks SPOT on! I think you might have nailed it...and flattened would bring it to the original Rod I posted. Got any numbers on that paint? Thanks, by the way.

I know for sure that it is hot rod flatz, but not 100% that it is OD green. I will see if I can find out for sure for you though.

Roupe.......I found some numbers on that Ford Avon Blue in a 1951 color chart (didn't find it for '38!): AVON BLUE by Dupont 1077, 246-39845. Ford Code M 4521.

    Hope that helps you.

OK....now I see it! Good detective work...any chance you'll be painting this color? Have you found a source for it yet? I think it should have been named: Avon GREEN!
