a friend of mine does stereo install and is claiming flashing tape from Home Depot or Loews is just as good as dynamat or other insulates. Esp for the money. Thoughts, anyone use this before? Doing the floor in my 54 pickup.

I have used it for its intended purpose, never considered using it for that, although it is abit thin i bet it would work great.

i did my truck with the peel and stick from LOEWES, it worked great .there has bee some discussion about it not sticking very good, i used a heat gun on mine and a roller . I had to get into a panel after that and had a hard time getting it loose. So maybe the heat gun and roler makes a diff

have used a flashing we sell over here which should be the same, used 2 layers on door skins in my work truck, makes them a whole bunch quiter and more solid feeling than before.
Make sure you wipe the panel down first and then i used a heatgun to melt it before sticking it on and grabbed a wooden 1" roller to run over the whole of it, still stuck and doesnt smell

I used the stuff from Home Depot on our 67 chevy pick-up as a sound deadener. It worked well. Seems to stick well. It's been on almost 4 years and I don't see any of it coming off. I did it when it was warm outtside and we cleaned the metal real well too. It's not quite as thick as the dynamat but the cost was less than half what the dynamat costs. The truck has a big stereo in with with a subwoofer, and it doesn't vibrate at all.

Sorry, no picture of the label. It's used in the troughs on roofs. Roll is about 12" wide, I don't remember the exact name.

  11. PEAL & SEAL SAVES THE DAY!
Sold around here as self sticking roof flashing. Have it at Home Depot and Lowes. Don't have with me just now but it is 6" wide by 25' I'm thinking. Sometimes called Peal & Seal. About $14.00? Just peel and stick. I used the stuff on our '32 roadster. Semi shiny metal foil on one side and black sticky tar/rubber like membrane on the other. I have two layers on the body panels and one on the floor and firewall. First got the idea here on the HAMB! Check the thread shown above by Tman.
Compared to the DM stuff the price is right!

as you can see i live in a hot climate, one place i used it, was the roof of my 57 truck it has not melted and has not come loose, also the truck has been in the shop last year with temps of 90-95 and i have not had any issues. The peel and stick from loewes here in texas , is thicker than the home depot stuff. IT MAY BE PEEL AND SEAL OR PEAL AND STICK ALL I REMEMBER IS IT HAD A BLUE AND GREY WRAPPER COST IS ABOUT 14.00. IT IS BETTER THAN THE HOME DEPOT STUFF

I gotta roll of the Peel and Seal cept the roll I got was about 3 foot wide 25 foot long (near as I can remember) was $75 a few years ago...I used it in an OT car that I was trying to keep budget minded worked real well, I just set the whole roll out in the hot sun, trimmed to fit and rolled it in with a roller....sold the car with it in, nary any problems.
