Getting ready to get started on my '59 sometime this week. Swapping out the old straight 6 and 3 on the tree for a 351W and C-4. I would like to only have the truck down one time, instead of a few times, and i figure itd be easier to put in the M-II front end with the engine out anyhow. Anyone know where i could purchase the crossmember for the M-II front end? i plan on buying the rest of the components from speedway. Is there anyone cheaper to buy from? thanks for the help

Classic Trucks is a good magazine to find many answer's for your build up. Fatman Fabrications out of NC is one maker of the part you seek.

ADAM if you want cheap YES go w/ fatman . just always wear a good pair of shoes , and have a great seat belt installed . If you wish to have it done correct ,see steve at industrial chassis . He has all his info here in the hambOdex section .M2 is wrong for that truck and industrial chassis has all you need .Will it be the "cheapest" thing for your truck ? prob not . But i choose quality and safety spend a few more buxs you will be glad in the end . Also remember just cuz they have an ad in streetrodder it does not make them an instant expert, do the research .AND YEAH DO POST AN INTRO DUDE .good luck

Cheaper ain't always better...Fatman's is good and heavy...Jim Weimer in Elroy, WI is a good, small outfit who builds nice stuff. Buy it all from one source...the $50.00 you save piece meal ain't worth it.

What is the setup from Industrial Chassis? I have seen ads and talked to a guy that used a weld in crossmember that uses Dodge Dakota suspension. It seems to be a better choice since it was designed to be under a truck to begin with.

Was down at Industrial Chassis today hangin out, and i am really impressed with the quality and the ingenuity that steve has put into the frames and clips for all you ford truck guys. A customer picked up his frame today that steve had totaly gone thru. (Z'd,notched, crossmembers etc. etc.)It was fun watching the look of total amazement on his face as steve described the work he had done to his frame. The quality of the work is almost enough to make me want to buy a ford truck? Just kiddin all you ford truck guys. It's about time that someone made a decent product for these cool old rides and is willing to stand behind his work. [IMG]

Add anothe rvote for Industrial Chassis. El Polacko's stuff is top notch. Fatman's and Heidt's are crap. And don't worry Chevy owners IC can hook you up as well...

Get one designed for your truck, by someone who drives the hell out of their stuff as a test mule...

I really like Rod & Custom Motorsports MII crossmembers. They are strong and very high quality. And his welds are a work of art!! I'm going with one of them on my project.

  20. Aw gee guys,,,,

This should give you some background... FTE

Remember one thing. This is supposed to be fun and your hobby. Do not let COST be the only determining factor in what you choose. Think of things like driveabiliy, braking, replacement costs and availability.

Once you are on the FTE site, search for my company name "Industrial Chassis" or Dodge Dakota stuff. You will see there are quite a few flattering comments there as well.

I went out on a limb to create something unique in the industry instead of following the MushstangII. Not only do these guys here on the HAMB think you would be happy to own my kit but the guys on FTE and many others as well as myself think so too,,,, [IMG]
