Hey guys i kept one of my grandaughters this sat, The weather was fantastic she,s crazy about papa,s ole pick up i decided we,d clean her up had a great time wasted two rolls of paper towels lmao but what the heck right i think i,ll leave the pick up to her she seems to really like hot rods and junk , now if i can get her used to loud pipes lol,
That's great---anytime a young one gets to interact with a gramps and a hot rod is great in my book. My grand kids are always arguing who is going to get what when I'm gone, I don't know if that is good or not--hope they don't get impatient.LOL
My name ain't Grandadeo for nothin. Got three of those little buggers. The youngest one (16 months) loves to stand on my roadster seat and DRIVE grandpa's roadster. Now he's got his own '36 roadster stroller to drive. Lee
My granddaughter's name is Veda,,named after Veda Orr of SCTA fame and she has been a hot rodder since see was knee high to a grasshopper,, Interesting enough today is her second birthday,,
Oh yeah, it doesn't get any better for sure! Start 'em young, most of the time they don't need much coaxing to hang with Grandpa and Pop if it's car related. I dont' have any granddaughters yet and only 6 grandsons so far ! go figure. Here's 3 of 'em: Grandson #3, learning to 'drive' early: Grandson #2 with his pop, behind the wheel of Grandpa's '66 Coronet Sport: And Grandson #1 at Michigan Billetproof last summer. Looking into the future? - or a '54 Buick's babymoon . . .
great thread Throwing in a pic of my daughter , sitting in "HomemadeHardtop's" T-Bucket a year or so ago . Hard to believe she was that small ... She loves hotrods & loud pipes , BTW
I know what ya mean,,I have three grandchildren and love them all,,I just seem to get to spend more time with Veda because her mom works at the shop with us. HRP
kids love the colors in the flames. We did a charity show and allowed three kids with cancer to pick their favorite ride with plaques to the winners. Two of them picked flamed cars.
I don't have any children of my own... but I've let parents and their kids sit and ride in my cars for years. I see a few of those kids these days carrying their own children and tell me that their experience riding around in my old cars got them hooked on real classics! I'll post some photo's later.......
Good for you,,I too have always tried to open the door and let kids climb in and get to sit under the wheel.,,they are our future and they will remember you and your kindness. Deuce Roadster does the same thing,,his roadster below,,
We just had our first child in Nov.I am trying now to get her into cars.We watch Speed Channel every Sunday.
I know that feeling........got 8 grandbabies my self, 4 boys & 4 girls, 13 years to 3 years old. This is my Emma's first bike.............
Make sure to savor every minute with them. Becasue the time flies. Mine is 17 all of a sudden. Seems like only a few months ago I was looking at this tiny little helpless thing in a blanket. Enjoy.
A very moving statement ... and so true . Mine's only 21 months old , but time seems to be screaming by already !
When I bought my Merc in 1997 my grandson Ethan was the first one to ride in it, he was 4 at the time. He's one of 13 grandkids. My cruising partner is Abigail, 12 years old and goes to shows and cruise-ins all the time with me. She's in charge of the tape player (need to get an I-pod hooked up though.) She also washes off the bugs for me. We had a great time together at the 2 Ohio Cinematics when she was befriended by hotrodladycruzer and chevygirlrox. She hung in the parking lot at the Holiday inn lat each night. Got a pair of twins 5 weeks ago, a boy and a girl Quinten and Emma. Jim
Priceless for sure..They grow up quick...My grand kids have already picked which car they want and I am still alive....
Last year I got to spend the month of December with 6 of my 10 grandkids in California and my grandson Nathan and I built a wooden scooter using old roller skates like my brother and I built back in the 50's. Now he's one of the only kids in Hollister that has a home made scooter....man I tell ya that had to be one of the best times of my trip!!! Of course seeing all the Christmas programs and recitals that they were part of was spectacular... one of the best Chritmas's ever.
