I have to say im pleased with this years show they moved it to a new venue and changed how the cars were set up it kind of had a detroit feel to it. I can only hope that it a sign of better shows to come for the people who missed out here some pics.
Nice pics and thanks for the update. I'd about written it off at McCormick Place -- seemed like same, boring cars every year and they were more concerned with attracting the crowds who came to see the Swedish Bikini Team, WWF stars, PT Cruiser Club display, etc. Was thinking Rosemont might be the last gasp, but appears the show has reinvigorated itself.
It was a great show!!! I love that gold shoebox, with the white flames!!! Nice to talk to some old friends. warm weather is comming soon!!!!
I was supposed to go with a buddy (dragginwagon on here) but I opted to stay home and shoot some primer on the tudor. Gotta get it done for summer!
Show was great I went Sunday. I took a bunch of ****py pics of the Mercs and was rushed cuz I had my boys (2 and 4) with me. Show had double or triple the cars of last year since it also included Chevy Vette Fest. I think there were three big rooms of cars. My only small suggestion is that they group the cars better by style, but I'd still be very excited for next year if it had the same amount of cars.
It's got a Hemi in it! Here it is racing at the Hunnert Car Heads-up in August. I bet Z will be racing it again at the Heads-Up II on May 8.
the attendance seemed to be the same as years past or perhaps up - I thought the cars there were better than in years past. I know some people knock Voodoo Larry - but he got a really good turn out for the Motorama section of the show. He and his crew should be commended on getting the cool cars in the door. Over 60 entries and there were about another 15 out in the "normal" section of the show that I think could be in the motorama portion of the show. Let's hope that next year Motorama breaks 100 car entries. Looks like Chicago could get on track to get as many cool entries as Kansas City................or Indianapolis?! OK - Let's break 100 entries first. Also want to give props out to Mr Harry Willett for taking a big change (new venue and new dates) and making it a success. Overall the sales were down......but people seemed to like the new change. I thought that Triumph that Spider built was pretty cool - did anyone get pix of it?
thanks... thats the one voodoo larry did right? i have a older mag with it in it. didnt recongnize it from the front with out the trim around the windsheild cool car but it would look so much better with different tail lights and a rear bumper
Being in March with warmer weather and no snow on the ground helped quite a bit. Last year's show was in January with snow and salt on the ground and temps in the teens. It was also at McCormick place with the fools that run that place. Maybe when they moved they also changed up the ding dongs who usually run the WOW. Larry is a great guy, and he knows a LOT of car people ...and has 100s of members in his club to make go to the show. I'm glad he got such a great turn out. Maybe Chicago WOW will stop ****ing as hard as it has for the last several years.
I don't know if he built it or not, but it's possible. The owner is a guy named Z. I'm not sure how much he contributed to the build.
in the mag i have it said larry did the chop, rear window trunk lid hinges, tailights and roll pan then sold it to "Z'
Thanks man I truly appreciate that you dig my ride man. I was super excited to win Voodoo Kings Choice award. Larry has kinda been a hero of mine since I first saw his kreeper on the side of the rode on the way to the flying eyeball show in Iowa he was helping Z get his ride going again. Anyway great show great time. The chitown world of wheels is getting better. Great job to Larry, Susan and the Voodoo kings for the Autorama it was a big hit.
