So i'm sitting here baby sitting my Shepherd puppy that i just had "fixed" and thought i would start a post seeing it's been a long time since i've written anything on current projects, and i can't do much else watching her...

Don't have many pics on here yet..just a couple i took with my phone from last night, and one from before i tore it down.
    Quick summary.
Plain Impala, 4 speed..Sc car with 80K miles on it that's been off the road since 83..never seen salt.
I had to put floor pans in it due to bad weather stripping and some small tin repairs here and there, but otherwise a very nice clean car..like still has red oxide under it and all but one floor brace were perfect..
The motor will depend on my findings when i get it tore down and to the machine shop......so no reason to get into that just yet.;)

Anyway...here's a couple teaser pics for now for those who give a damn..lol
Hopefully i will get some better ones on soon........

Well, no bags and even though it didn't look too awful bad with the rally's, they won't be on it when i'm done...it'll be wearing vintage M/T 5 spokes...
As for what will be under the hood, well, i'll get back to ya. :)
    Thanks..

Morning Tony!! I took that with my cell phone camera at last year's Woodward Ave. Cruise here in Detroit.. :) I have another pic of a 09 in a hotrod with all the finned goodies if you want to see it... Just say the word and I'll post it! :)

Yep, gonna keep the original color combo..it'll sit pretty stock too.
Kind of the super stock look, but i'm gonna pass on the fenderwells on this. I have a car with them already, and i kinda want to keep this more subtle.

Deuces, thanks. I got a bunch of pics of W motors saved too...
I have a 409 that i was going to run in my 32 5 window when i built it...
But that car is a way's away and the 62 is not, so if the block checks out it will more than likely be powering this. At least until i do the 32.
I just didn't want to say anything because if it isn't good i didn't want to stick my foot in my mouth..

More...this area was a mess, but, it's done and done right with no cut corners even if it was out of sight.

how solid is that body rack with no braces between them. I would have been afraid it would have folder out (either forward or rear).

you are doing a nice job, your dad's truck was good practice.. but you know that you have created a situation where all your cars from now on have to be body off or they will not be nice enough (or gone threw enough). LOL

when that thing gets done, how about taking a cross country road trip in it..

She's real fine that......oh wait no 409. Nice none the less!

Great work so far, you have some skills. My favorite of the 60's Impalas.

Boones, it's actually very sturdy. We did complete floor pans and rockers on a 57 210 post car before this. It's a lot stockier than it appears to be. There are tie bars on the part that is sitting on the floor, so it isn't just two individual sections. It's once piece.
My pop's truck was one of a few i have had off the frame...i've just never done one for myself. But, you are right, i've already started talking about tearing the 57 back apart someday to do this...
As far as cross country trip, i'd rather take it in my truck :)

Ken1939, it may very well have that 409 under the hood. I should know in a couple weeks...
I should have taken photo's of the good areas too..It's actually a lot better than the rust area's i posted. Aside from the patch in the rocker on the drivers side, they are original GM tin. Even the trunk floor is perfect..

    Thanks fella's..

if you can do a road trip to the Showdown in that channelled PU of yours, you can roll an impala cross country.. its only an extra day or two...

    Nice looking work!

How well does/did the one piece floor pan fit? I am going to be replacing mine in my Elky next spring, just wondering what I am in for. Did it require much massaging or modifications?

    Thanks.
The pans i used were the two piece ones with no braces, Each one was a complete side. They fit surprisingly well, but like anything else tin related, they still needed to be "adjusted" to fit right. If your braces are good and you don't mind doing the extra work to drill out all the factory spot welds, i'd say just go with these instead of the one piece. They are a LOT cheaper.
