Ahh I see were you are coming from and if both are evenly spaced you are correct.
The reason I copied mine exacly is because the markings were not evenly spaced on the doner speedo. For some reason the 10 MPH is a different spacing.

unfortunatly no I had to use some artistic liscence to make the graphics fit were the odometer was on the doner speedometer

  3. Just wanted to see them side by side. I' curious why you didn't leave the trip meter on there, since the original had one? Could you also use the gizmo to make the speedo read 100 MPH instead of 120? Then it would be an even closer duplicate. Nice work any way you slice it!

You just did what I was afraid to do to my Diamond T gauge. Great job! Now I know it can be done, and I have the guts to the elec. speedo I was going to use, and I'll keep this great tech piece!

Thanks for a cool thread.Where would you get one of those mechanical to pulse generators? do they make them for different transmissions?

I would think those speedo senders like in the picture are everywhere. That looks like what was on a ford T-5 that I replaced in a late model Mustang maybe 94?.

Years ago, before computers and such, I made a face for a gauge. I was converting a speedo to a tach. And just for the dail, I figured out where the new numbers would be by simple math. Anyway, painted the dail semi[gloss black, and got decals from a model railroad place to do the numbers and words with. Actually they were rub-on transfers. worked really well and looked great. And lasted for years, did not peel or fade.

Just telling this for those that wouldn't have access to the printing technology that was used here.

Great Post. It's amazing that you could do this for that price! good job

Next step is for someone to tell us how to convert an older trans to send a signal to the new speedo.

That's out there. I used to convert cable speedos on trucks to electric. At the time GM made a generator for the trans, that fit right to the bullet that the cable came off. Three wires from there to the dash. These were the AC current drives and speedos. But since the adapter in this thread can accept any signal, that would work. There were also aftermarket, VDO, SW, ISPRO all compatable

And dosen't the Ford Electrics use a generator that mounts on the bullet, too.?

    Yes very cool indeed!

"....I was lucky enough to have my file screen printed with epoxy ink onto white coated aluminum stock...."

Can you elaborate a little on how this part was done?

    thanks!

I'd love some details on this aspect as well. Time to get my gauges in order.

    Great Article!

I also would be interested in hearing more about the printing process:

"screen printed with epoxy ink onto white coated aluminum"

Its pretty much regular screen printing. We use UV enamel inks on our metal dials, same process.
