Any HAMB members, Hot Rodders, Drag Racers, Veterans, in or around Boone NC. I kinda like it around there its much like the Catskills and Hudson Valley area only without the ***hole NY politics.

Parents' families are in Ashe County, just northeast of Wautuga County (Boone). If I could find work up there, I'd move in a heartbeat!!!!!! Now to talk the wife and kids into it......

Lenoir is around an hour from Boone....pretty good rod atmosphere there, might be a little to streetrodish for some...then there's Winston-Salem and Charlotte, both 1.5 hours away. Much bigger traditional scene in the Piedmont area/I-85 corridor between the NS/SC state line and Greensboro!

There's a bunch of "youse guys" relocating down here to get away from "youse guys" up there! Pretty soon we'll be moving up there to get away from "youse guys" down here! ;)

By all means, go ahead Brett!!! I set my feet on Southern Soil and I knew it was home. Not sure much could ever make me leave especially since it's still snowing up there!!!

Went to App State and yes the area is awesome. My Dad lives in Lexington which is about an hour forty-five from there. The past few summers there has been a deuce run that goes up to Blowing Rock.

I wouldn't mind seeing that. My wife and I are coming down for a visit and looking at a bunch of Hot Rods would be great. I don't own a "Deuce" but I like looking, have a few Willys, a 57 Chevy, and various Olds, plus the MG race car in my avitar.

My Pops has a cabin up in Banner Elk I use to go to quite often when I was still in Florida. Moved out to Phoenix about a year ago so no more Cabin visits for me. I love Boone and the surrounding area plus doing a bit of snowboarding in the winter was always fun. Always saw lots of old rides rolling around there too. My Pops is supposed to be selling his place in Florida and moving up to Banner Elk. I'll be stoked when that happens!

Lived in Banner Elk for two years back in '81 - '82 until starvation got old. Loved it. Wish I could have hung onto my house there. Great area except for inflated real estate prices due to those dang Florida people. Go to Mike's Inland Seafood for me. The calabash shrimp are the best.

if you want to be "in the area" but get more reasonable housing look into Lenoir. Valdesse also has a BIG cruise-in every friday night that blocks up a good portion of the town(small) i think last summer the average low was 100+ cars and it seems someone told me theres usually 2-3 times that. the little food joint it's centered around(Myra's) has pretty good food to. i'm right off Hwy321 in newton Boone is about a 45 mile shot for me. it's nice up there for sure. i actually like the whole area of WNC but am starting to miss coastal living...ken....
