i just found the car in a "barn" hahaha... and i couldnot find out what size the motor was ...thank you
If you like low-deck DeSotos, then yes. '52-54 were 276ci, '55 was 291ci; both of these are low-deck and share many internal and external parts. For '56 the deck was raised and stroke increased to arrive at 330ci or (341ci for Adventurers). For '57 the bore was increased for 341ci across all lines, except Adventuerer again which got a.020" overbore to arrive at 345ci. Cubic inches are always good. And in general, later tall-deck Hemis are more desirable than early low-deck variants. But if you have a good running 291 there, use it. They are strong and reliable hot rod engines.
---------------------------- They're good reliable engines and fairly powerful for their small displacement. Physically too, they're a lot smaller and lighter than the Chrysler hemis of the era. On the downside though, there's little if any parts interchangeability with either the Dodge or Chrysler hemis and parts to build one up are scarce and expen$ive. They are really not a LOT smaller and lighter.....they are a little smaller and lighter......like and inch and a half shorter, narrower, and maybe 50 or so pounds less than a Chrysler. Ray
