Hope this isn't too far off topic. My wife's brother (16, good kid) is coming down to spend his spring break with us. His father p***ed away when he was only 8 and he's never really got to do much outside of Boy Scouts. Due to distance (He lives in Bartlesville, Ok, I live in Mesquite, Tx) we haven't got to spend much time together over the years. Now he is really interested in cars and eager to learn. He's always asking how the hot rod is coming along. I'll be picking him up in Atoka on Saturday, but no definite plans. We're talking about doing some camping, drag races, car shows, cruises, garage crawl or whatever. I was looking at McGee Creek State Park which looks to be nearby and sounds nice. Can anyone tell me more about it? We'll be tent camping, possibly primitive. Any drag racing venues between Atoka and Denton? Any cool old wrecking yards we can walk around?
Thunder Valley racetrack is down by Pauls valley. There is a cool hamb friendly salvage yard just a ways south of the border on I-35 west side of the hyway don't know the name but it has alot of old cool cars. Lake Murray is a nice place to camp. You sound like a good uncle.
Same little boy you brought by my house that time? Does he have a car? This weekend there is garage crawl in guthrie. Sids alley party march 13. Search for it. Looks like a good time.
Yep, that's him! I can't make it all the way to Bartlesville this time though so his Mom and I are going to meet in the middle in Atoka. He doesn't have a car and really doesn't have the means, tools, or knowledge to take on any kind of serious projects. I wish he lived closer. I had no idea the pre-war at Chickasha was this weekend, I thought it was after Pate. One of these years I hope to go to that one.
Hopefully next month I am getting into a garage, if I do I'll pm you the details so he can drop by if he wants. I always have stuff to work on.
