Hey everyone. I want some technical opinions on this. What is the best way to go about building a roll cage inside a 1932 fibergl*** body.

The way I was thinking of doing this is running plates, inside the car, along the frame rails. Then building the roll cage off of those plates which would then be bolted to the frame through the body in the stock body mounting holes, essentially sandwiching everything together. And the framework for the seats would be built off of the cage/plates.

    Any ideas on this?

I think the fact that it has a fibergl*** doest change the basic design, the cage is seperate from the body whether it is steel or gl***.

You have the right idea. Measure twice, cut once, weld well.

Weld the cage to the frame, build a floor around the cage, drop the body over the cage and fasten it to the floor/frame/cage.

  8. I would first ask what kind of racing you plan on doing? If it's NHRA, SCTA, or any well orginized sanctioning body, there will be a rule book with specifications to follow. I know of no group that doesn't want to see the cage attached to the frame.

If you just want to add a roll bar for the looks, welding it to 6"x6" plates which are bolted through the floor would work just fine.
