57 chevy bellhousing

  1. does anybody know if the manual bellhousing from 6 cylinder a 57 chevy will work on a 60's model 250 six? im getting a new transmission and the only bellhousing i have easy access to is one out of a 57. any help would be appreciated

    Mostly not. A 55-57 6 cyl. has a different bolt pattern. I just sold a 66 Chevelle 6 cyl motor and the bell housing bolt pattern is the same as a SBC V-8. I took the PG off the 6 cyl. and put it on my 350.

    If you use a 55 to 57 v8 bellhousing I think you will be ok.
