What oil or additives in blower gear drive

    Has anybody used any additives in there gear case on blowers to help cool it down at all.. they run really hot under boost ..

  2. You can't get much better than 90W gear lube. When the blowers were used on diesels, they were lubed from the engines oiling system. The heat isn't coming from your drive gears...

    Thanks i know it gets the heat from compression but was told could help cool it down with a additive in the gear case also just wondering if anybody else has tried that or if it made any sense..lol or is it just another snake oil deal,,hahaha everybody claims they have something that makes it work better

    Good advice. leave it in there untill you need a new blower. There are lots better places to spend money on than oil additives for blower gears. :eek:

    Be better to spend the money on an intercooler to sit under the blower, gears will be cooler and you'll get more power.

    All the recommendations I ever had were for 90W heavy duty gear oil, with an emphasis on non synthetic and non detergent. Good old mineral oil.

    I use Royal Purple synthetic. Yes, it is $17.00 / Qt. Never had a failure with reg 90W either.
