i have a pair of56 plates that i would like to register my 56 buick special on. how would i go about doing that? thanks
Yes check with the DMV. I run 1930 plates on my model A. All I had to do was bring the plates to the DMV, the lady behind the counter made sure they was in good shape and the numbers were readable. I have heard a rumor that they will not accept plates that have been restored (i.e. repainted in any way) You might want to check on that if you plan to restore the plate at all. Or just wait until you have it regeistered, then do what ever you want to them. Mike
Here's the link for the 'Jersey MVC; http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Vehicle/SpecialVehiclesPlates.htm Does New Jersey allow YOM(Year of Manufacture) plates? It looks like they only allow the QQ (Historic) and Street Rod Plates.
In Maryland you take the old plates to the DMV , they ok them and you get a separate registration for them ..Extra $$ of course . You must keep the original set in the vehicle and present them if stopped I run them on my 53 and 29
I don't know about Jersey, sorry. But in NC, all you do is put the vintage plate on the rear of your vehicle and keep the real registered plate in the vehicle. No special applications or bulljive involved what so ever.
Hi, in NY you must have historical insurance, take pictures of the two plates, send them to DMV. I think it cost 3.00 to have your registration changed to the year of manufacture plate. I have two sets one no my 59 corvette and one on my 31 tudor sedan. Then have them restored ( I didn't say that ).
