I get that you want to put the word out about the stolen parts and how much being a victim ****s. What I don't get is all of the drama that has come after. I've read this thread a few times trying to understand the originating reasoning.

Waiting 48 hours, to me, seems non-sensical. What exactly are you waiting for? I can only imagine some ****-eyed looks from any investigating officers that respond to your call when you tell them that you realized the items (75K worth) have been missing 2 days ago.

I would have been pursuing this issue like the world was on fire. I'm not saying you're not... well, I guess I am since you've got this whole "waiting for the parts to appear out of apology or fear" theme running through this thread. I see a situation like this is too urgent to wait for calling the police. I wonder, as well, how your waiting will effect the work they have to do.

***uming that originally the police were called and a report was put in (plus calls to the insurance company and such) if the items were found or the thief turned themselves in and the items over w/in 48 hours, then you could drop the charges. Now, I don't see that is possible since the situation is contorted with waiting and writing about it and such.

I'm probably way WAY off and apologize if you've read all that with my being so. However, that's what I've gotten out of this thread. I hope this ends well for all those involved, especially the person who forked over the 75 large.

Yeah, I really don't understand the 48 hour wait and drama either. I would have just filed a police report immediately. If the parts mysteriously showed up again, I'd tell the police and have the case closed.

Good luck, and I hope the owner gets his parts back. Thank you also for the tips and reminder that we need to make sure our shops are secure!

  4. I know what it is like to have your garage broken into and all your treasure stolen, I never got mine back and had my suspisions but never found out who. That has been over 30 years ago and I still worry about my garage today. When you do catch them hang them by their ball and let them rot off to get free for the rest of us that never caught the low life s***. Set an example. Also just a side note, my store was robbed at gun point and got the s*** on tape. We live in a rural area so huge population was not a problem, cops still have the tape 10 years later and said they could do nothing. When you find them make the cops do their job and keep pressing the issue, I didn't and they were never caught.

Police involvement ?? anyone dealt with the police when youve been ripped off ??

Ive never been in a situation when police involvement has improved a situation.

I still would not wait, if you have a lead go after it. Looking forward to the full story.

Cops won't do a damn thing, unless they actually SEE the crime being committed. Been there, done that. They tell you that they can't (won't) do anything about it, because they did not witness it, like only their eyes count! It's amazing that murders, ****s, and such get solved...the cops were not there THEN, were they?

It's all about their desire to take care of business. Property crime don't matter for **** to the "authorities". Unless someone steals THEIR ****, of course...

Put simply, it's up to the victim to solve the damn crime! Should not be that way, but reality being what it is, that is the case.

so i guess we can ***ume that it was not a break-in, the stuff is missing and a number of people were in the place who may have been there legally but can say they borrowed it prior to the 48 hrs.i guess we will see how it plays out. I hope it is for the best

He said they got fingerprints so I would guess that means cops came, unless he's got his own fingerprint kit.

FuelFC,you must be a very understanding guy to give this "person"48 hours to return your parts...I dont think I would be so
"gentle' with them.even if they are employees, family or "friends"
as I read into your posts. Some people just dont want to do the right thing even when given the chance.
