Hey Gary, Shelby got your car done yet? You know there are child labor laws! She needs one of the those Model T go carts (I had one-wish I still had it). Honestly I don't know how you can sleep, your car is so close to done. I bet your family misses you! Here is my son Ty making his first car purchase - he really wanted a "Shelby"! Thanks to everyone! We are getting back on track. The blower will not go on the Hemi, for now. No whining - get it? I crack myself up. Better get another cup of coffee!
She has one of those battery powered F150 and loves it. She is too big for it now and want a new one. It's funny you made this comment, I was just drooling over the mustang in the background of that last coupe picture. My dream car is a 65 fastback, that's where my little girl got her name.
I was thinking the same thing Bob. Kathy is pretty tall, and mostly legs, so she'll need some room in there. I am also for making it look as close to the photo as possible;the only aspect I never warmed up to was the grille shell. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"> <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
What's this, Ty is already getting a car? I guess he has been pretty good lately; he didn't kick me in the shin or anything last time I visited! I am still up for adoption, by the way. Apparently no one wants me. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
My 32 roadster is channeled 7'' and I'm short. I dont see anyone enjoying driving your 3w channeled that low.
I couldn't agree more, it's her car build it the way she wants. Ron built it for him not everyone else, otherwise it would not have been channled as much. If it was my car i would build it for me and have fun with it. I would run the blower, wich is what he always wanted, and channel it as desired. Thats what he did so it would be rebuilding it in the same spirit, build it all out the way he would have!
It's always nice to have input from others , sometimes they've found out stuff the hard way and can stop us from making mistakes, bottom line though is you gotta be happy with it as you're the one footing the bills. We're just care takers of these cars with history I would build it the way it made me happy always keeping in mind that some day someone may want to put it back to the way it was, you have such great history on the car I think it's a pretty safe bet that some day someone will,so if you make all the mounts easy to change and try not to do anything that will make it impossible to put it back to the original build, have fun and take care.
I got into this discussion pretty late and had no idea this was supposed to be a famous car with a lot of history. Since it has so much history, somebody is sure to know the times it was turning with the original owner behind the wheel when it had 6 carbs. I'd really like to see them.
Rusty, That's two mornings in a row you made me laugh out loud. No one reallys likes change and we all fell in love with the original build. Even though the severe channel is impractical for long distance driving, it's the way it was. I find comfort in some things not changing. I am going to turn off my phone, lock myself in the shop, and have a long talk with Tuffy.
Tuffy 2 (Ron's Shar Pei) and I were wondering how the build was going? Hope you haven't run into a snag or a gremlin.
Kay, I have run into a gremlin. I fell or passed out in January and cracked a rib. Started having more dizzy spells and low blood pressure. Ended up at the cardiologist. The good news is my heart is healthy, the bad news is that my brain is not consistently sending signals to the tell it to beat. I flatlined for 11 seconds on the tilt table test and did not recover on my own (as I should have) so I am getting a pacemaker for "backup", and I think I should get two birthdays now! Doctor said it was genetic and I it is something I was born with and adapted to. Hard to believe I used to run marathons with this condition? Anyway I am relieved to know why I am tired all the time! I am going to teach my son, Ty to weld before the surgery, and I know I can call my friend Louie. I am thinking we should get back to work in May. In the meantime I have been buying parts. I actually found the dual headlight stands, thanks to Bill! There are a lot of little things that I can be doing during to recoop time!
Kathy, Shocked to hear about your condition, and relieved it's treatable! Please take care of yourself....Tuffy understands.
Cool car and great work! I wish you the best with your condition too, my wife has a heart condition with similar symptoms called SVT in which the electrical pulses that "govern" her heart rate sometimes get goofy and either go too slow or too fast. Best wishes, and keep crankin on the car!
Thanks for all the well wishes. Yes Tuffy has been waiting since I was four years old. That's the age I was when I first recall my obsession starting with cars. The Batmobile was it and my great uncle took me for a ride on his old Indian Four. I couldn't stand still at the site of either. I was overcome by the same feeling the first time I saw Tuffy!
I was wondering what the latest was on this project. Glad you are still around and that the doctors found out what was going on. This is a cool project, I like to see the parts and pieces come together. Thanks for making the effort with the photos and all while sharing with the rest of us. ok, back to lurking and watching... -W
I am so sorry to hear of your heart problems. The genetic thing I understand all too well, thanks to Grandma I have weak retina's and had to have both repaired after a tear. Good news before your surgery, we found the back window roll up panel yesterday. I sold the 406 and when that was out and we were moving more stuff about, there it was. Will get it to you soon, we are still trying to find the tail lights, one of these months we will fall over them or they will hit us on the head. You rest and get well now, you will be in our prayers.
Thanks Kay! Just got back from the doctor. Surgery will be this Wed or Thurs. I am ready to get it done! That's good news about the back window!
Kathy, We hope all goes well with the surgery and you feel better. Sometimes it sucks when you get older Wishing you all the best! Bryan
How are you doing, Kathy? I hope everything is ok and you are feeling better. I'm sure Tuffy is lonesome for you.
Hey Kath will keep this short and sweet just like me LOL Just two things mate. Get well soon and build the car as YOU want. All the best.
