I am trying to rebuild an instrument panel on a second series truck, I have a temp gauge that is broken and needs replaced, was looking for advice on where to get one. Also I had to cut the metal plate of my upper brake pedal to get the master cylinder out because all the joints were corroded and woundnt come apart without more force than I could apply in the confines under the truck. I need to replace the upper pedal, I was going to weld it back together but the splined end is completly wore out also. do you know of a source for this as well.

    Thanks for your help

Is your temp gauge mechanical or electrical? '55 2nd series trucks had mechanical while later trucks had electrical senders. Just because yours is a '55 doesn't mean it wasn't changed to the electrical gauge at some point. Mechanical gauges are hard to come by.

As for the brake pedal, the junkyard or a brother hamber is probably the only way.

Bad luck for you then. They are very hard to find. A one year only gauge. Good luck!

what do you mean broken? somebody cut the tube going to the gauge. those can be fixed with modern parts.

apparently I dont know the difference between mechanical and electrical because mine doesn't have a tube it has wires hooked to the back. The gauge actually broke off the thin metal around the studs so theres no way to reattach it.

If it has wires, it's electrical. You lucked out, they're a lot easier to get. Put up a thread on the Want To Buy forum and you'll probably find one.
