So I was going through images at Barris the other day and I came across a shot and only one shot of what we always called it the "Pearl White Coupe".. We featured the car in MFS Volume 3 and has alway been one of my favorites!! The Little Varmint
That car is awesome i was actually thinking about it today because i have been thinking about doin something like that on the rear of my car.
Sorry, but I can't get my mind around that one. Too many conflicting things going on. It just doesn't "flow". Sorta like just a bunch of things done just for the sake of making modifications. Frank
Mark Guggenmoss YES!!!! thats why I can't remember it.. Frank: I think its more about history.. I get what you are saying but there was allot of goofy stuff done in those day.. but the pearl is checked just right on this one.. its cool that it is what it is..
That car taken in context epitomizes what late 50's early 60's show cars/hot rods were about. To be honest it has modifications that were done but not done to be really stupid or gross (say like some of that eras customs )or detract from the look of the car. It might be a little bit of a show pony with its crushed velour interior, record player and telephone but that 's what was going on back then and that car has the trophies to prove it.
Uhh, you guys forget Frank was THERE in the 50s when most of us children of the summer of love were a mere drip. He remembers enough not to try some of that stuff again!
And one other thing, nothing looks looks sweeter than a bias ply stretched over a rim that's two inches too wide.
I think he would sell it now it just sits. It definetly needs some tlc but is pretty ****ing cool. If anyone interested I can p*** your number to him. I see him all the time
The car itself reminds of being a little kid at Grandma's big old house and snooping through an old cabinet, finding this long lost model car built by an uncle years and years ago. That was back in the mid/late '70s when no model kit was available on the market that even remotely resembled it. I think I actually built one as close to it as I could remember using a wheel/tire combo from the Lil' Coffin and a Monogram 32 Roadster "Early Iron Series" kit, which at the time had evolved from the first issue of Starbird's Lil' Deuce kit
That car is definitely a favorite. The only thing not perfect is the headlight placement....kinda odd.
I'm with Bob too. Loved it since the first time I saw it. If Mark was sooooo nice he'd sell it to one of us. Preferably me.
This car is soooo cool. One of the only ones that made a '32 top look right on a model A. And the conduit used for ribbs is ****ing rad too! That's awesome!!!!
I understand that a major draw to this car is the history and the "originality" of it back in the day but lets be honest if some kid on here today was building an exact replica he would more than likely get it pretty hard about not being traditional or being that double "R" word. I LOVE it btw so I don't want to hear I "don't get it" it's just funny sometimes that a car is cool b/c of who or when it was built and not exactly for what it is.... But yes I would do a lot of evil things to own it for sure!!!
Such a *****in' coupe. I realize you posted this back in March, but can you give me another example of a " '32 " windshield/ top being used in a Model A other than this one? Also...the windshield frame in this car actually looks to be a '33-34 Ford windshield frame...quite a bit narrower than a '32, and a different radius than the '32 at the upper corners. Ask me how I know.
