MSD ready to run dist. # 8360... You can even run the stock "window" type gm points cap. I have used a bunch of these with good sucess. Dave
Pick up an old Mallory dual point at swap meet for 10-25 bucks put a Pertronics elect kit in it for 70 and off you go............
I agree with carl, you can pick up an old good Mallory unit for as little as 20 bucks. I buy the SBC ones with the two piece caps just for the caps. I just converted a Mallory for my flatty to a pertronix....looks old with the convenience of electronic ignition.
Pertronix is the way to go. Cheap, very easy to install, sill looks original. I have installed on several vehicles and they have never let me down. CN
One thing I did with the Pertronix is I ran the Pertronix coil with the internal resistor, but I burnt the module up. The guy that set up my dizzy suggested that I run a 1.2 ohm ballast resistor in combination with the coil. My two cents, but that may save you an extra $100 and a few hours broke down on the side of the road.
Running a Mallory dual point on the third engine in my 32. Came in the car when I bought it in 1991. Just using one set of points to trigger an MSD. Still works fine after all these years.
