Even the best laid plans change... I had an offer for my 33... so, I ask my oldest that loves to drive the beans out of it - would ya rather have the $ sitting in a 401K or the car... No hesitation the car... fast forward a couple years - the 27 is starting to look very respectable and the he says "ya know - ya sould sell one of them when the T's done"... bottom line - when I pass I want the cars and any items they want pre-appraised... then by birth order they can claim an item and then through rotation the next item until they have what they want subtracted from thier portion of the estate... if they don't want it bad enough to pay the value let someone who appeciates it get it! Cause no matter what they say today - circumstance change over time... What didn't matter sometimes becomes important in time...

Made a video of everything and its value as it is in 2010 and put it in the lock box along with my will. the grand kids will get the trucks and the grand daughters will get the cars. The tools that are a special(pullers ,gauges, welders and torches and such) will be donated to a car club or school, the rest will be divided with the kids( there's three large roll-away tool boxes with snap-on, craftsman and proto tools). The wall hangers will be given to the Cancer soc. everything else the wife can sell for the price I told her I paid for it which isn't very much.
There will be 4 happy grand-kids that wont forget gramps, a wife that will hate disposing the stuff as she calls it, and a charity that will gain a little cash value after I'm gone. After 3 heart attacks I had to make a decision as who knows how long we have on this earth ,in the mean time I'll try to collect more and more so it will take a little time to sort things out when I'm gone.
Now its time to get ready for the April swapmeet in Portland-- hope I have enough cash for everything.

I love that idea! I hope no one gets forgetful and sells you at a swap meet!
Ive been planning to itemize everything, but hell, I could finish another car in the time it would take me to do that.
My wife will get it all if I go first. That will be her supplemental retirement. Since we dont have any kids, her Nephew will probably get what hasnt been sold off to cover food and medical care.

  10. Guys, don't be under the illusion that if you give a car to someone with the condition that they don't cut it up,then they can have it.Face it, you will be gone...the car will belong to them...they WILL change it,just like you did when you told that farmer you bought it from that you are going to "restore" it and not cut it up.Rodders will lie to get what they want.:D

I hope my kids will enjoy it. My oldest (step)son is now 18 and never had any interest in cars. His mom and I divorced about 8 years ago and he's turned his back on me. He wants to smoke pot all day and be a lazy POS. He'll get nothing.

My 10 year old boy is coming along, he likes hanging out with me when I get some time in the garage. I try to teach him what I'm doing as we go.

My 8 year old daughter comes out sometimes, to be with daddy, but isn't really interested. Kinda neat to see stuff, no real desire to be involved.

Thise 2 are with my ex-wife, so I will have to be careful.

I remarried and have 2 more daughters, they are 3 and 2 months, we'll see if they have interest. No interest=no cars/parts.

My wife and I owned and operated a parts store for a while, she has a pretty good idea of what stuff is worth. It will all go to her first, but as the kids get older I will decide whether they are worthy of my hard work.

If not, I'll sell it all as the end gets near.

A friend of mine has a '63 Chevrolet (he bought new and still looks new) anyway, his wife never liked the car. My friend says his wife is going to bring the title to the car to his funeral!

My wife's trying to get rid of my shit now. Once I'm gone she'll make a call to the neighbor down the street who owns a salvage yard and whatever doesn't look profitable will just get crushed.

My buddy Mike don't know it yet, but when I croak he gets a hop'd up model A. I went to a lawyer and it's all written up in the trust my wife and I got. Do get a trust or a non-contestable will or your stuff all goes into probate (sleazylawyerbate) and the folks you want your stuff to go to get damn little.
