I was going through all the **** on my computer and found these illustrations of the car Preston Tucker was working on in Brazil before he died in 1956. It's got kind of that boattail hot rod speedster thing going on. The car was to be called the "Carioca". Unfortunately Tucker died before this car could become a reality.
Yeah I can see him having a hand in that car. Funny how he didn't stray away from the steerable fenders. Justin
A guy by the name of Darcy Vieira did the illustrations. I think they are digital. He had these posted at his web site some time ago as downloadables.

Wait a minute..ain't that Grimlock's car that's been PhotoShop'd? Sure looks like Kansas City in the background!!!
There are some *****en ideas on this thing. I, for one, am filing the machine-turned belly pan, or frame shroud (?) or future use on my far off roadster project. The fender braces are cool too, but it looks like a big ordeal to change a front tire.
Blunt that front and put on hood and grill from a coffin-nose Cord! There are also ideas there that would be neat for a streetable belly tank.
It's very cool indeed. Dig the hubcaps, did Loewy studios rip them off directly for the '53 Starliner or what?
I don't know...I think it's kinda cool....and the front end still reminds me of the original Tucker Torpedo....
I was reading this thread a few days ago....but didnt want to kick it to the top, but since someone else did..... a little side note, my father in law, gave me a business card of his fathers featuring the Tucker Torpedo the last time I was here.... He was to be the Tucker dealer for Brazil!!!. obviously this never came to be too bad. the old man told me the story of the 1 tucker that was shipped to brazil, and how they had it on display in the city center and the huge crowds it drew.. I just showed him the pics the other day of the Brazilian Tucker...he loves it. well gotta get back to my sun tan LOL! it gonna be a hot one down here (Sao Paulo,Brazil)
Are any of his relatives still alive? What did his son end up doing after they shut down the car factory?
Preston planned to make the car so that you in mather of minutes could turn it into a roadster, pickup or wagon. A quick convertion car. I know that many people have started out making replicas of it in fibergl***, but nobody have finnished one yet. Making one in steel would have been awesome. Maybe it could have been buillt using a 2CV....
looking at the potential proportions on that thing, it almost feels like it should have semi-sized wheels and be over 20' long? either way it is different with lots of neat styling cues, though i think tatra came up with a less ungainly 3rd headlight, (and Ledwinkas still isn't the best)
