Sweet dude, you can definitely do it...just put on some wind cheating doo-dads like the Khoughaz(sp?) roadster...that went like 150 with a flatty....with a Rehr-Morrison SBC 200 shouldn't be a problem, at least in my head hehe.
I just want to make this clear. My name is Kevin Lee...but I don't work at R&C...I do run Spun. If that poor dude gets as many questions about wheel covers as I do about that magazine I pity him. Back to business. We're in research and gather mode here. Club or not 200mph is 200mph. Rad design Rick.
I can't remember if the 'Cochran Coupe' is a 28/29 or 30/31.... Is this what that build has developed into? Good luck, anyway!
Go easy pulling out that timing slip... you don't want a paper cut. Good luck boys. If there isn't enough expertise and knowledge on the HAMB to get you to 200, it can't be done.
Good luck guys and may the winds be at your backs ...not that you'll need it Evel ...will you be filming this for MFS #3 or #4? CAB
[ QUOTE ] You guys realize we probably have enough Bonneville HAMBers to make up a club and join the SCTA as a sponsor club now? [/ QUOTE ] PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a club to run!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lofty objective-to drive long distance AND race! You and Grimmy may just be able to pull it off. Are you going to use the Redneck Canoe(tm)? Am I expected to dis***emble?
No doubt here.... With your background and tech support here I see no problems. I like the idea of a west coast drags-meet, how about the THROTTLERS handling this? Rick
I've been toying with the idea of going to B'ville for a few years now, but this is the kick in the *** I need for motivation. I'll be there if at all possible. I figure, besides seein' you crazy ****ers run 200+, it'll be a great place to meet a bunch of HAMBer's. Living in a desert on a mountain top is no way to see much in the way of car shows, etc. I'm stoked, Gawdammit!!
I too, would like to cite some lofty ambitions. I'm going to go to B'ville '06... and watch. I'll be sitting under some shade drinking ice water. (Do you think the shade part is setting the bar up a little high?) I'm in for a t-shirt for sure! Bil
.............very cool guys! These guys did just that, broke 200 mph, this year. Lots of insight here... http://tinyurl.com/5fmj4 ...............keep us posted and best of luck!
You should take Metalshapes offer if you can, one of the cars he worked on in the past has gone way over 200mph. Count me in for any help of any kind.
The HAMB should host a "Speed Week" at Bonneville! That would be rad. Maybe we could have the HTA and have our own records... Fastest post-war custom with factory engine...
200 MPH at Bonneville.. Good Luck!! I know some Salt veterans here at work and they say it is tough to do at Bonneville because of the 4000 ft of elevation in any stock bodied old car (not counting 80's camaros) I just hope you don't pull Jimmy Shine and Company at SoCal method and bolt on a whole bunch of **** when you get there and talk about how its a street driven car that runs 200! That is total ******** If you're going to drive it there - run what you brung and kick ***!!
Here I was thinking that finally after years of procratination, I was determined to finally make a 'dream trip' and visit the California, Texas & Bonneville, 2005 was gonna be the year..........and now you guys go and 'raise the bar'. To me this is a challenge, kinda like a ol time gun fight, 2005 or 2006............ Having crewed and participated with some Aussies here at our own salt flats (lake Gairdner, check out http://www.dlra.org.au/index.htm the car I ***ist with is shown in the pic... ), I'm well aware that 200MPH is fast so congrats on making the decision to 'come out fists blazing', and if I can ***ist in any way let me know.......I'm willing to cross the 'pond' to cheer you guys on at the sideline. Cheers, Drewfus
[ QUOTE ] I'd reccommend you draft off those crazy Canadian HAMBers. They can help you get started in the right direction. Hopefully Don and CWORD will be in the books by then. They're getting closer and closer. [/ QUOTE ] So.. 198.9 MPH close enough? It CAN be done! We WILL break 200 MPH! That's why they call us the "Crazy Canucks!" Dave One of the North of '49 Team. (BTW - it's an "A!") Need help guys; just holler!
Are you building a new mill or using the one in your coupe Ryan? Sounds awesome. Let me know if I can help. Jay
Ryan, I would strongly suggest that byou come out for Speed Week 2005 and observe. I believe it would make a world of difference in your quest. Wayno
[ QUOTE ] That's why they call us the "Crazy Canucks!" [/ QUOTE ] Well Dave, that's 1 reason. Here's another... Top secret Cannuk jato boost system photo. Burrito fueled and bic ignighted jato unit should give enough boost to break 200 at last!
