Found out my Firestone wide white bias ply tires (new) are out of round. I have been told to try to have them balanced on a Hunter Road Force Balance machine. Anyone know of a tire shop in the Phoenix area that can do a road force balance?
nobody better than Wheel Specialists in Tempe. Ask for Jim. I would also suggest looking into the Dyna beads that SoCal sells, Wheel specialist road forced my bias plys and then I added the dyna beads and I run no wheel weights on them. There are a lot of us in town using them. http://www.innovativebalancing.com/
I work at a dealership and roadforced my bias plies for my own car and i couldnet get them to balance good, tried dynabeads and i couldnt be happier with them
Glen I had my wheels road force balanced. I'll give them a try and see what happens. If its still not right, should I remove the metal weights before I use the Dyna Beads or should I just leave them on and add the Dyna product? Thanks for this wonderful info.
When a tire is road forced balance, they measure the run out of the tire and see how much pressure it pushes out any one point on the circumference of the tire while it is spinning. Then they do the same thing with the wheel itself.......They then take the two points and clock them opposite of each other to attempt to cancel out the two imperfections...that is called match mounting. After they are match mounted, they check the run out again and list the new number on your receipt. If the tire still pushes more than 20-25 lbs of pressure after match mounting you probably would still have a vibration....heavier vehicles are affected less....a lightweight model A will be affected more. so...if your running a CNC billet wheel, match mounting isnt going to do any good...if your running an old steel wheel and it has some runout, they have something to work with. If you still have 50 lbs. after match mounting the tire you wont be able to eliminate it. so what does your receipt say?
Thanks for that information. I'll have to take a look at the receipt and see what it says. I'm using steel artilllery wheels.
Audi dealers have Road Force balancers, too... just adding an option if somebody needs it. you MIGHT get a funny look from the service adviser if you bring in a '38 Buick, per se...
