How would any parts store have motor mounts for a car/engine combo that was never offered by the factory? Spelling lessons in automotive forums ****. I got my SBF engine mounts off of eBay.
If you walk in a parts store they will have motor mounts for a small block Ford. The half that would go in the old Ford, no, they will not have that, he did not specify that's what he needed. Might as well ask them if they have a rear sump oil pan while he's at it, that's the hard part.
Here you go, here's the frame mounts... so you wont have to make anything. '62-'94 289-302 motor mounts. Bolt through cushion kit. '49-'54 Chevy Frame mounts. / thread.
You will probably have to build your own frame mount to match which ever engine mount you use. Ford has at least a couple of different mounts for the small block. Choose the one easiest to build a frame mount for. Or you can make mounts utilizing a biscuit type mount (thanks Mark H) as some have here on the HAMB. Dang, I am slow at posting.
Advance Adaptors, Trans-dapt, any number of aftermarket motor swap companies. Your looking for a kind of bolt in engine swap kit right?
Frame brackets, insulators, or engine brackets? Most all MOTOR mounts are made up of a combination of the three. Obviously because the 221, 260, 289, 302 family of engines weren't in production until eight years after 1954, I'm not terribly sure you're going to find a magic bolt in bullet of all three for your exact installation. Checking on some of the Ford only boards might provide that answer if no one pipes up here. Truth is, MOTOR mounts are one of the simpler jobs to fabricate. Blocking the MOTOR into position accurately in the frame will tell you what type of mounts are needed and where they need to go. Oftentimes, all you need to do is to fabricate a bolt on frame bracket for the insulators that came on the donor engine. Provided they are lined up close enough laterally and longitudinally, sometimes you even get lucky and have the existing frame brackets work with minor modification. However, if your fabrication skills and spelling skills match, you are definitely on the right track trying to find them prefabricated.
Every small block Ford put in every Fox bodied car since 1979 has a rear sump (or more accurately a dual sump) pan. With one of these you just have to make sure the motor mounts you use keep that short front sump under the oil pump from rubbing on your crossmember.
Or, the steering linkage. I didn't think that style of oil pan is actually considered a rear sump. It seems like the front part of the pan would sit right on top of the center link to me.
Crashburns, those of us with some experience in engine swaps can see how a guy might do that but the rest of us realize that TedKRS is looking something on the line of what Zombie Hot Rod showed that will actually adapt the 302 to the 54 Ch***is without a lot of creative welding. Ted outside of the oil pan issue it might not be all that hard of a swap. A Bronco pan and pickup should take care of the clearance issues and you might be able to mix and match mounts to do the swap pretty easily. There are a couple of threads on here covering that swap but I didn't read all the details if you want to go to search and poke around a bit.
Yeah, I see. I always do things the hard way I guess. I had a '55 Ford two door sedan, and in the time I owned it, it had 2-289s, 2-351Ws, and 1-351C. A three speed, a four speed, then eventually a C6. It's not a hard swap, but those early Bronco, or small block truck pans aren't exactly laying everywhere anymore. Anyway, good luck with your kit.
hey TEDKRS, jump over to the 52-56 ford social group. its been done a thousand times. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=332 but Jamco, Night Prowlers, and a lot of other venders sell mounts for that specific conversion.
Just grab some early mustang mounts (like in Kramers L.H pic.) slot the lower hole and drop the 302 right in . I recently put a later 302 (94 EFI) into a 54 but got lucky and the KIWI falcon mounts are the single lower sud type also and it dropped right in using the 94 mounts. Put one in a 57 and used the mustang mounts slotted the lower hole but had to put 1" spacers between mount and block using longer bolts, we needed to clear the sump. Put a short extension rearwards on the trans mount and we were done.
I made mine. wasn't too hard. I bought the "engine" side of the mount (the part that bolts to the engine), placed my motor where i wanted it to be, and built the rest. maybe someday ill post some pics of it up. idk what the hell i did with the pics though.
On a 57 Ford you use the stock Y block frame mounts and 64 Comet Falcon engine mounts . I'd think the 54 v8 frame mounts and Comet moter mounts would work also.
Well at least you're not lazy, you took the time to give spelling lessons instead of a descent answer to the question at hand.
