Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by yankee mike, Mar 12, 2010.

  1. Just a reminder Charlotte Auto Fair coming up April 8-11. For anybody who hasn't been it's well worth the trip. Lots of early stuff and a good mix of everything else. Inside the speedway is broken up into 2 fields and there are 2 BIG fields outside of track. Hope ya'll can make it out.

I'm not going to Austin this year so you can count on me and the rest of the Iron Lords to be there. We are also (80-90% sure) going to have a after party at our shop in Concord on Saturday evening like last year. New Place, same Tom Foolery!!!!

All HAMB member are invited and we'll have beverages and food as well as a band possibly. If you want beer or whatever it's BYOB!!!! Hope to see all you fellers there....especially you Mike!

Looks like I might be able to make it after all....but it will only be for Saturday at the track, and hope to stick around for the Iron Lords throwdown!

There is LOTS of stuff there but it sure is hard to find what you want. I wish that they would somehow organize the vendors. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and plan on spending several days there if you're going to try to see it all.

Best part for me this year is that I'm looking for anything and I probably won't spend a dime which make the weekend a whole bunch more enjoyable because I don't get all worked up about all the **** that's there.....

....please god, let there be no '32 stuff that is affordable for me to choke on my words. I hope everything is ridiculously priced (it always is) or there is nothing at all.

Don't worry I'm not gonna rub it in, that I'll be in Austin and you won't, I won't even mention that no one cares anyway. I'll just keep quiet. :D:D:D

I hope there are cheap, cheap, cheap 32 parts for you to buy. :p

****! Damn you and your trip to Austin!!! I was pretty bummed because I had such a great time last year but I think the fact that Auto Fair is happening on the same weekend is making a little better for me. And the fact that we are throwing a party will make it seem like we are in Austin.....minus all the cool cars......and the great food.....and the car show......and the people.....and the awesome vibe....and the.....oh never mind.

If I see anything Buick at the Auto Fair I am either going to kick it or shat on it. I'm hoping I find a nice 401 to defecate on just because you like them. Even if it's ****ie's '61 Buick that nobody cares about. Enjoy yourself brother!!!

We ... are more FRIENDLY ... in person

Jeffrey, I won't be making it back to Austin this year either. Plans are to be at the Auto Fair the whole weekend. Will be hooking up with my close friend from over around Spartanburg and staying on the grounds at his motor home/swap meet space. I'll give you site info when I get it from him and we can compare notes on Austin and Buflo. The Saturday night party sounds good if I can show up without a hot rod.

My first born child is due to be born sometime at the end of July so I would say nada on the HAMB drags. We are all planning to go to the Jalopy Showdown in May though with a bunch of cars. We'll see if that pans out but it's the plan at least. I want to have my '35 on the road by then so I can take it.

  18. Looks like me, Mrs. Yankee, and all the little Yankees will be there for at least part of the weekend.

Heck Jeffrey, I hope ALL the 32 parts are WAY overpriced so you won't be tempted... but all the early Chevy "push & pray" parts are dirt cheap ;):D

  19. You better get there early cause you know IM always huntin 32 parts!!! We'll be there Thursday till Saturday, In the orange field.

You can have them Mike. I am not even going to bat an eye towards '32 stuff this time. I'll have the quarters made when I am at the point of needing them and pretty much everything else I'll buy new. I have far too much work on that coupe to buy more rusty stuff. What ever happened to that Sport Coupe you PM'ed me about?????

Besides that I did drag home my '29 Roadster Cowl & Doors this weekend. I could use the rear half of that one too but like I said, I am playing it cool this time. If I get anything it'll be a pedal car for my son or soapbox derby car for my living room.

Me and my dad will be there at XO59. Stop by and say hi. I don't bring much to sell, what I do bring I tag with a price (hate to open that can of worms). My old man brings an ***ortment of stuff and junk. He might have some tri-5 and some early Ford stuff. He is pretty bad about labeling his prices.

Dad is getting up there in years and isn't able to get around like he used to. But he's one of those guys that can tell year year/make/model of just about any part you put in front of him. I love going to Charlotte each year and just listen to him tell stories for three days.

What a kick in the ***. I got a call from mom last night. Dad has lung cancer. We will get the results of the biopsy on Monday. He is still talking about making it to Charlotte and I am going to do everything in my power to make it happen but I'm not sure it will.

Anyway, if XO59 is empty you know why.

Fatfender...best of luck to you and especially your dad.

We'll be there as usual (my father and I). We set up in the red field in the spring - it's a good place 'cause you get the through traffic from the parking lot to track. Hoping to sell some stuff to finance other purchases so I hope the money is looser than last fall!
