Does anyone here happen to know about how much a square foot of 1/2" plate steel weighs?

  2. 20.376 lbs.

    Formula : length X width X thickness X .283 = weight of steel.

    or

    area X thickness X .283 = weight

Remember what Johnyfast said the easy way. A CUBIC INCH of steel is a SBC {.283} pounds.
