Manyolcars, choprods could tell you much more than I could. But I can tell you,he built the complete inner door structure, from scratch, its solid as a rock. The inner door opening has not been completed yet,I was planning on the door to hinge and lift straight up.This car was used as a parts car, anything of any value was taken off, before we got it,the frame was even gone, picked up the one thats under it now from a salvage buddy, its in pretty sad shape, but much better than nothing. We are going to have to rebuild the whole perimeter, of the lower edge of the car, its rusted at least 8" up all around the bottom. But I think the car has "the look" and it will be worth the work in the long run.Reggie.
[ QUOTE ] Yup down here that would be cherry and well and truley dug up by now, dude what you waiting for..... On the same subject years ago there were pics on here of another mid-late 30's Ford someone dug up, what happened to it anyone ?? [/ QUOTE ] that was a 36 ford (coupe?)up in the pasadena hills...id like to hear whatever happened too! short bus?
I cant believe that thing is still there. What are you waiting for? I wish I could find something like that around here.
If you wait till spring, it might not be there. get the hell out there with a pick and go 4 it. the dirt comes out in bigger chunks when it's frozen, that way it only takes half the time. don't forget the take some anti-freeze with you, as it's more fun that way.
Years ago a good friend of mine from Rapid City S.D. drove all the way to Pennsylvania to get one that wasn't any better than that. It had been in a ditch for ever and there was nothing left of the bottom. He hammerwelded in all new metal and made one beautiful street rod/shop truck out of it.
[ QUOTE ] If not and it can be had for the digging just think how much fun you'd have sticking it in the ground at home and answering the door 20/30 times a day and telling whoever is there "I'm going to fix that ol car up someday" Frank [/ QUOTE ] ROFLMAO!!!! I've always wanted to do that. It's the perfect revenge.
Save that thing...down here that would be considered cherry. Seriously, a buddy of mine bought a 35 tudor that you could have kicked a hole through anywhere on the body. Now that one WAS too far gone.
Just to confuse things, the civil engineers along Northern California's Russian River placed possibly a few thousand old heaps along the river banks to as part of a flood control projec covering at least the stretch from Sebastopol to Monte Rio. About 20 years ago I was canoeing a stretch and can across a 57 T-Bird hulk standing straight up and down. The foliage on the vines covering it had dropped it's leaves and there she was. I was once sitting on the bank and realized that there was a gl*** tail light lense stick out of the ground. A little excavating confirmed that there was a whole car under there and in fact this whole bank levee sections was a bunch of cars covered with dirt. The powers that be are actually starting to replace this arrangement and every so often I see a news photo of exhumed car remnants. Perhaps time for a canoe jaunt.
It took me the better part of 5 hours to dig my 35 PU out of the sand in Western Oklahoma with a single spade shovel. I was 24 and only a couple of years out fo Drill Sergeant School, hence in good shape. The gr*** makes the first 6-8 inches the hardest to dig. My truck was only buried up the the axle on the front, and barely over the rear axle. That Delivery looks like itll be more fun to exhume than digging a Crew Served Weapon fox-hole! Take a couple of friends and a LOT of water to drink! You can rent a BobCat from the rental stores for not a whole lot of green to make a ramp to pull it out of hole youll be making. If you just dig straight down, you will not have a way to get it out of the hole when you get it free. Itd be like trying to push a car out of a swimming pool!
Is this on a farmers land? Ya maybe dodgin shotgun blasts up yer *** if ya haven't found that out yet. KNUX
look at my post on the 2 56 chevys and do the same thing to this car. i would have found a shovel and gotten started as soon as i took the picture
I'm checking on who owns the property, scarliner think he might lead the HAMB rescue mission...to be continued.
Atleat cut what yo can see off. If they can replace a 56 body cut in half in three days you can definatley find a home for this.
All that talk of Model T's in ravines got me thinking of this one. Grounds starting to thaw now... is it out yet? I would have had it out the day after I found it!
The '35 delivery is still buried alive, I'll find out who owns the property next time we visit my wife's parents...Steve
haha 4 miles from the page turn, ive driven by that a thousand times, gona show the upside down 59? those trees werent laying down on the cars till recent, and some of them are missing. ive taken parts out of there in the night more then once
Wow this is weird this car shows up. Yesterday I went up the hill to look at some V8 fords for sale and there was a nearly complete and in good condition 35 s/d. Only thing wrong with it was the entire top had been cut off just above the belt line. These two cars need to get together.
If I can just get FORDY 6 to find out who owns the property, we may organize a digging party to save this relic. Seems like a good project now that the weather is warmer...Tom - restorit
i will help dig, and someone has to know someone with a wrecker to get that thing out of the whole with or maybe a tractor with a long bucket to lift it not that i advocate the use of force when moving a vehicle sometimes its the only way
Fordy 6 or 296 V8 -- If you guys want to make some money off of one of these heaps, I will buy the dash. I bought a nice dash (w/ waterfall trim and glovebox door) and UPS managed to LOSE IT. So, if anyone has a nice, relatively complete '35 or '36 dash, I'm interested.
My brother-in-law has a current plat map of the area, shouldn't be a problem finding out who owns the property. Need to get back up there to investigate. I think restorit is organizing a rescue mission for this summer...
We'll talk at coffee tomorrow. Seems like everything is resting on who owns the 35, if it is available, and who is bringing the beer. Tom
