I'm building a 53 moredoor chop top and I had 2 questions. 1. does any one know where I can get a electric wiper conversion I don't know if theirs a kit or if it's something I'll have to put together but any help would be appreciated.2. with the top being chopped where do I get shorter wiper arms it's chopped 4 1/2 INCHES.
National Chevy Assoc has some 12v wiper motors. Haven't seen anything cheaper yet- looking for electric for my 54 as well.
I do believe they make kits, try chev's of the 40s I did a cheap converson on my 50 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299143 for the arms, cut 'em up. Ther eis usualy a rivet where the thin arm part goes into the fatter piece. I got lucky and found adjustable ones shown in my other post. Thom
http://www.nationalchevyassoc.com/1953_1954_12_volt_electric_wiper_motor_2432 This should be what you're looking for... In the same section, you can find replacement wiper arms that you can cut up/modify...
I bought a motor for a 55 Chevy car, they bolt right on to the drive. The word conversion for the part might make it a little more expensive, it's just a 55 Chevy car wiper motor.
Newport engineering makes an electric motor that just takes the place of the vacuum motor. http://www.newportwipers.com/products.php?year=1953-54%2F57&make_id=1
i used a 2 speed 57 chevy motor bolted right in place in my old 53 chevy use the same cable from the 57 chevy motor and thats it
