  2. My mom siad you should do an intro and a search since you are using her computer. They are a piece of drag racing history..................search gr***hopper and you will find. And get rid of the smart*** location in your profile.

Strong. 9.3 inch ring gear. Nobody I know makes a new posi unit for these rears. The 57's had no posi units and 57 & 58's have the less desireable 29 spline axles. 59-64 had the better 31 spline axles. You can bolt a 59-64 chunk into your housing and get new 31 spline axles or search for a super rare 58 posi unit with 29 splines. Lots of parts (axles, gears, bearings, spools & seals) are available from Fabcraft in Texas. They're also on ebay.

    perfect answer!

only addition would be to note that the later chunks bill bolt right in, but you will not find factory 31 spline axles because your rear end is not as wide. Fabcraft will know EXACTLY what you need and can set you up.

Filthy Frank on here used to own Sommers Bros. and he has some old inventory and may be able to ***ist.

G***er 57 Hit the nail on the head. He is 100% correct on everythign he states. I put a 3:64 Posi unit in my 57 Olds out of a 64 Pontiac. I had Fabcraft make my axles. It works great.

While the Chevy center section looks oval, the Olds/Pontiac is round.
