Man, that is turning out GREAT. JC Whitney sells lap belts in several shades last time I checked and brown or tan was an option.
As far as the aluminum panels go, I have an idea that might seem a little weird but would flow with the persian theme. What if you made some simple stencils with a similar design motif as the carpet and sprayed the negative areas the same color as the dash, still accentuating the aluminum but warming it up and continuing witht the great patterns ... just a thought.
    Looks awesome.
Since you have the woodworking skills down, maybe you could fashion matching "skirts" for the lack of a better word to cover the edge where the seats meet the floor, to add to that professional look.

I originally wanted to keep the alluminum panels showing....... i was considering "swirl patterning" them to kind of match the dash.
BUT no matter what angle i looked at it, i agree with you guys. I need to paint/cover up/do something............

the hand sewing (binding of the carpet edges) is pretty freaking slow going, but does look ok so i'm going to finish. I thought about different door panel options but when i seen this "imitation alligator skin" i couldn't p*** it up.
so i'm just spray glueing the material to the alluminum, goes pretty fast.

I had ta brake out great granny's sewing machine and to try and make matching shifter/brake lever boots. the last picture is my first try..... hope the shifter boot comes out as good......

Before you do the snake skin door panels, consider this...take your idea of engine turning the door panels, and Gigantor's idea of stenciling the Persian pattern in the dash color...a little flash and a little subtle style...the best of both worlds...

warmed up the garage for a couple hours today, the door panels are not as dark as they look in the pictures (i tried acouple different shots, not sure why they came out that dark) the steering wheel cover is also lighter than it really is.

anyway, i'm happy with how it looks....... still have the drivers door to complete and make some floor mats........

    Oh,
thinking about head rests? getting some from a junk yard (re-covering) and mounting just behind the seat cushion into the wood trim. I don't think i've ever seen that before, anyone?

come on, tell me how you really feel....(just kiddin)...... i think it's more 70's than 40's myself (but then again i was born in the 60's).

so many hours of sewing finially got the floor mats done (winter cabin fever has it's benefits)...

not much getting done this weekend (suns out and acouple local swap meets are on the must do list)...........

was going to start a new thread for the "carson top" interior i'm finishing and a car cover i'm making but decided to bring this one back because i'm actually gonna use some s****s of the "flying carpet" i still have.....

so i had to break out granny's old sewing machine again. these are some old military wool blankets i'm sewing together for the "liner" to the car cover i'm making. plan is once liner is done to cover it with plastic tarp or something. i wanna use when towing on an open car trailing, so i'm going to make fit a tight as possible...

any ideas for a waterproof material that i can sew through...... i'm not sure what i'm going to do about seams yet

so i spent all the time trying to get this cover to fit good incase i'm going down the highway and it starts raining. (i figure i'll tow with cover off most the time)
anyway plan is to leave the parking blocks and footman loops (last picture) on trailer all the time.

i'm going to get more footman loops today, and finish tying down.

still trying to find a good way to secure top (currently using Zip Ties, might be my permant solution... but any ideas......
